I am not sure buying all the players from a midtable club is a sensible buying strategy for a Champions League club who have just lost their best player.

Football Manager 2001 will forever be my favourite Manager game ...

N00b, that's FA Premier League Manager 2000 (or 2001). Actually the game that got me to register at SG. My favorite team to play as was Betis. Denilson (H) Also, Alfonso was a BEAST for some reason.

uhh, sorry n00b, but your troll is a fail:

you must have played 2000, coz that was where Denílson was still rated against his transfer fee ... in FM 2001, Betis were already relegated ... still, cool to hear that those were your "gateway" games ...

Still a n00b for playing a later game

This game was really really horrible too. I came on here to bitch about it and warn people not to buy the game. Some people were talking about CM, which I then acquired; initially just the CM3 demo and then the full 99/00 game.

even more of n00b for not knowing that the game was called EA Sports Football Manager, and promoted different leagues in different markets:

Southampton made around £92m on transfers, I guess that's a record ... They may still sell Osvaldo, Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez ... then they can probably sign Messi or Ronaldo ... maybe both ;)

cool comment: "will the last person to leave southampton turn of the light please"

Chambers to Arsenal is official, Schneiderlin and Rodriguez to Spurs on the way. Can't imagine Gaston Ramirez is too happy.

They've got a nice academy, Southampton, but if they don't make some buys quick that thing is really going to be pressed into action.

Senior Squad
Yeah, it's going to be hard for Southampton. They can't spend all the money they'll get for transfers, as they owed money for incoming transfers. It's also not much easier to attract quality players than it is keeping them. They will pretty much rely on what's left from last season after the window closes.
