Theo is in the squad. Micah should obviously be the starting right back. It's hard to have many other complaints though. England just isn't that talented. Sturridge is probably a starter in a 4-3-3, but he has really struggled since Chelsea abandoned that formation. I certainly wouldn't prefer him over Theo or Ox in a 4-2-3-1, much less Ashley Young.

I think there are legitimate complaints to be had about Defoe. Frankly I'm not sure a 4th striker is really needed when you only play with one. And even if you are definitely taking 4, I'd take Bent over him and maybe Sturridge, not to mention other midfielders or defenders.

That is legitimately quite concerning. Maybe he also doesn't know which players he's picked and just selected names he could remember. Might explain the number of Liverpool players.

Has Oxlade really been better that Sturridge?
the apparent justification for Ox's selection:
Roy Hodgson said:
He is a very exciting player who has made an impression on me, not least in his performance against AC Milan at the Emirates.

I was there live and saw how well he dealt with Pirlo and Ambrosini. He can play wide or central and for future and can continue as he started.
hahaha :-D

Just as bad, He selected Defoe because he scores against teams that Hodgson has coached before, despite Harry Rednapp telling him that Defoe isn't a good player

Yet another underhelming performance. Anybody notice how Johnson did more in 10 minutes than Downing in 80?
I know we're not to be compared to the likes of Spain, Germany etc., but it's just so awful to watch us play without any apparent structure or purpose.

Well it's confirmed, injury has killed of Barry. Now we just need Downing and Glen Johnson to crash into each other in training.

Call me crazy, but I think Andy Carroll is going to have a big tournament.
It's possible. I reckon probably worth a tenner on Carroll as first scorer in each of the group matches.

Bet on it! You're on a hot streak.
I'd love to see Downing not make it due to some minor injury.
Ha yes definitely just a minor injury, we want him fit and ready to start for Liverpool next season :browsmiley:

Oh my God. There's like 10 days until the first game, and you can probably get on without him for one. That would be such a retarded move.

How do the rules work with standby players? Because the deadline for submitting the final squad was Tuesday morning.

Are we allowed to still swap in our standbys? Can we only do it in the case of a serious injury? Is there a deadline for switching in the standbys?

Because it says Lampard's hamstring is pulled, not torn, and you can recover from a pulled hamstring in two weeks, just ask Cahill and Luiz.

I think if the reason is injury, you can call up players just before the tournament.
Looks like Lampard is out and Henderson is in.
I wasn't expecting big things from Lampard, but I'm pissed off that Henderson is in though since he frankly just doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the England setup, let alone be part of a squad at a major tournament.

I actually agree, I didnt expect much from Lampard either and actually given his age and past flakiness in an England shirt he is one of the oldies I wouldnt have minded seeing dropped (and this from a Chelsea fan!) But the fact that Henderson is going to the Euros (alongside his club buddy Downing) is absolutely mindblowingly infuriating...

check out this lineup in 4+ years, once Roy and his Liverpudian-influences gtfo

Hart
Jones - Smailling - Cahill - Baines
Wilshere
Walcott - Young - Chamberlaine
Welbeck - Rooney

Fully fit with 4 extra years of world class experience, I wouldn't write this bunch off at all. Some of you might sub in another mid (Ramsey, Milner) for Welbeck, since I'm biased. But nonetheless, this looks pretty solid.
