The Real Capello Has Spoken

Harsh words from Fabio, that wont have done David James' confidence much good.

England boss Fabio Capello has admitted the number of foreign players in the Premier League has meant 'the pool is reduced' when it comes to squad selection

Capello is likely to call up Manchester City youngster Joe Hart for the forthcoming friendly against France after citing David James' recall in goal against Switzerland recently as an example of the lack of depth in the English game.

'I have had to reinstate a 37-year-old goalkeeper but I have spotted one in the Under-21s who is very interesting.'

Life in Germany sucks when you're team doesn't make it to major tournaments...
I don't want to dwell on this but I still constantly get asked in which group England are in or whether I'm watching the European Championships this year...
Anyway, what do you all think of Hart?
It's a pity Foster's still injured, I wouldn't mind seeing him in goal.

I like Green as well, the only problem is that he sometimes makes goalkeeping clangers as well...

Well they all do some time man. Even Petr Cech drops a clanger every now and again. Bobby is dead right about James though. I do not want James at all. He is guarenteed to fu<k up at some time, and it will always be a fatal mistake.

James has been the best goalkeeper in the premiership for the past 2 seasons, okay he has ****ed up in the past but i think this time he will prove everyone wrong if he keeps his place.

What about Cech, VDS and the rest of the Premiership goalkeepers who don't f*ck up on a regular basis? And anyway, he's made mistakes this season as well.

I think its good that Joey Hart woild be given a chance in friendlies, just to give some experience in the first team, he's a bright prospect.

Goalies

Every player makes mistakes, goalies' mistakes though are more noticeable.

James is a good shot stopper but he is still fairly useless on crosses, only trouble is whether the alternatives, Carson, Kirkland, Green or Robinson are more or less likely to make mistakes. Of the four Kirkland is my favoured option but even he is isn't as good as james at stopping shots

At least James doesn't look like a retard. All that's missing from helmet boy is some drool running down his chin. I think once John Terry accidentally touched Cech's ears when he tried to hug him and Cech flipped out and injured him.

As if it matters, its just a formality. There so many guys on the England squad who are great at being captain for there club teams.

I don't think Rio being captain for example will stop gerrard for being any less emotional, or be less active in spuring on and commanding players. Same goes for terry and everyone else who might give words of wisdom or support for there team mates.

just re read that, it reads really hostile/negative. Wasn't meant to be. although I stand by the belief that I think it doesn't really matter. The media really over hype it. All pre match they were talking about it.

I didn't see the whole game, just the highlights, and it looked pretty crap. What worried me was that we didn't even seem to have any chances to miss. We just didn't seem to create anything. Also, can Rooney actually play up front on his own? He hardly has a great scoring record and it seems like a different position than he plays at Man United. I can't help thinking it would be better to just play two strikers (whoever), just so Rooney can play where he is best.
