Chelsea up ahead. Honestly speaking, it's gonna be tough for you guys.

I just hope we avoid defeat to keep the streak going, it'd be nice to carry it over, would be good momentum.

Way to go down fighting, Arsenal....NOT!!! You passed and passed and passed......without any effect. With the critics in full force, Wenger should have fielded Adebayor and Bendtner with RVP from the start of the game.....rather than mid-way through the 2nd half. You guys need that combination of power and speed....speed alone, which is what was present in the first 45 minutes, just got pushed around by Chelsea.

Nasri is to blame for Anelka's goal....he spun and just ran right by Nasri unchallenged.

Diaby just about had the worst 1st half he could have imagined. His first touch was very very shaky.

Arshavin's absence was probably the most important factor though. In your last 3 big games(United home, United away and now Chelsea home) the Russian was unable to play and, quite frankly, without him that driving force from the midfield was clearly missing. I don't know what all the hype is about Fabregas, in Spain....he hasn't looked very convincing in the 3 games I mentioned. Maybe the pressure of being captain is too much for him???

I don't mind so much us losing today. Of course I'd rather we won, but the plus side of losing is hopefully Wenger can take even further evidence that we must strengthen this squad.

Arshavin told the Russian media:

"The target for my first three months here was not to score a certain number of goals but to discover whether I could play in England or not.

"Sometimes I feel I can do well here but other times I don't - and that's probably because I am playing as a left midfielder.

"I still can't get used to the idea that I am capable of playing there and, frankly, having to do it keeps me baffled.

"I don't know if I can play so well as a left winger or if it is just God taking care of me."

Interesting stuff there....

Here's the thing though.....Wenger put Henry on the left and he turned out fine. Having said that, Arshavin was dynamite for Russia, at EURO2008, when playing in CM or RM.

Henry is Henry. It'll be a long time before we have another player like that.

Bendtner is awful and I hope we sell him, somehow. Maybe we can trick Steve Bruce into it.

Arsenal need to spend in the summer to compete for the league next year but it sounds like they may not have the money to spend.

*To the apparently non-existent Arsenal fans on SG* Barry is said to be interested in joining us next season since Liverpool's interest has "cooled".
Personally I would prefer to see Inler or Xabi Alonso coming in but whatever floats Wenger's boat usually turns out to be great.
Still this is all speculation and it might end up that 4 year Laurent N'Goma will sign instead.

it seems like you're close to getting Vermaelen from Ajax, though I've read Wenger might try to convert him into defensive mid. I'm guessing your biggest problem is solved, right?

I read today that Inter is going to make a move for van Persie :icon_spin:
Didn't know that Arsenal wanted to get rid of him, I mean he's one of the best there!
Mourinho seems to admire his football capacities.

RVP
Ade
Eduardo
Bendter
Arshavin
Vela

I don't really see a necessity to have 6 Strikers... If someone is willing to offer 30 Mill for RVP or Ade then I say take it cause... Cause could possibly get 3 solid players positions to add depth with 30 mill. CDM, CB, ST

If Bendtner improves on his finishing Adebayor would be the first to leave, Eduardo as far as I'm concerned is somewhat injury prone and could well decide to leave (without being forced) at the end of the 2009/2010 season. Vela,Arshavin and Walcott are currently being used on the wings most if the time.
Uncertainty over RVP is due to issues with him signing a new contract and most people thinking that we will decide to cash in on him before his contract runs out. I doubt Inter will make a move for him if Zlatan stays, they already have three main strikers (Balotelli,Ibra and Milito). Still a player might be sold to finance the entry of a defensive mid or CB (if Vermaelen is converted to DM),my guess is that it might be Kolo.

the way i see it, and from what i've heard

Out: Gallas, Senderos, Toure
In: Vermaelen

and what i would like to see

Out: Adebyor and/or Bendtner
In: 2 CB's and a DM (richards swap deal for kolo plus cash, maybe Bassong and yaya which is unlikely), with the cash from Adebayor and Bendtner fund one world class striker David Villa?
