I didn't catch the Neymar foul actually but the pundits were adamant that the foul was dirty and if that were true I'd suppirt a retroactive ban.

If Matuidi didn't get one, I don't see how Zuniga would. Also, I can't believe he ended the match without being booked after all those fouls (especially the ones on Hulk and Neymar)

Almost end his career? He won't even miss a month dude chill, Suarez wasn't punished for the damage, he was punished because FIFA don't want kids running around biting people and people who don't watch the sport who tune in just for the world cup to associate with the sport

He will miss 6 weeks.

Brazilian team doctor stated that if Zuniga's knee has hit a little more on top, Neymar would've been paraplegic. But it's not a bite so no one gives a shit, including fifa.

But he didn't. He's going to miss 6 weeks, he won't even miss an official Barca match. I'm sure plenty of Barca players have injured players far worse than that. Anyway, I just saw the replays of the foul and the fact of the matter is you can't conclusively call it one way or another. Zuniga is looking at the ball and runs into Neymar, trying to get the ball. I would not be surprised if that were his stance. Personally, I think he sees Neymar and barges into him on purpose, aware that he won't get the ball without doing so. Does he consciously knee Neymar? I'm not sure. His leg is straight when he actually hits him and I don't think he had any intention of injuring Neymar. It's something you see a lot, players see someone else who is going to get to the ball before them and they try to barge in to get it, or miscalculate their momentum and hit the player. This time Neymar got injured, but looking at it, it seems like a pretty freak turn of events since that shit happens every game.

So, having looked at it, I don't think Fifa can do anything. There is absolutely no way you can conclusively say Zuniga did anything on purpose or maliciously or even with excessive force. I mean, a foul got called, right? He barged in, fouled, end of. Neymar unluckily got injured, and it IS possible that Zuniga was frustrated and trying to hurt Neymar when he hit him, but really, calling for any FIFA action only stems from Barca/Brazilian bias.

There is absolutely no comparison with the Suarez ordeal and you still don't understand that the issue with Suarez wasn't the severity of the damage but the nastiness and disrespect that came with it. You're taking a stance that is trying to lessen the blame on Suarez, or excuse his action. If you want to posit that other actions deserve similar punishment, that's a fair call, but you look like a ridiculous fanboy when you post things like that because there is absolutely no objective reason to think that Suarez deserved LESS than what he got.

Neymar is made of fucking glass if that foul put him in a wheelchair. Fouls like that happen on nearly every aerial ball. And can 4nau get a yellow card or something for disparaging Zuniga by inserting nigga into his name?

BS. It was a freak accident and I believe anyone who would have been hit there (including you) by a knee would have suffered the same fate. It's not like your spine has a thick layer of muscle all around it. If hit in the right spot (in the center) it has very little protection.

Every aerial ball has a player throwing a powerful knee to the spine? I'm not saying Zuniga was intentional because hitting the spine under those circumstances would be very difficult, I'm arguing on the basis of you calling Neymar of glass because of this incident.

If you look at the momentum of Zuniga's motion you can tell it was not a normal jump but that it included a pretty powerful charging knee.

Some of the "violence" in soccer doesn't have that much impact because of the timing of impact (at the beginning, or end of the motion) or power but that knee got delivered with a lot of force and at the right time. In Muay Thai it could be considered a good strike.

I think plenty of aerial balls have that sort of thing, but the discrepancy in momentum between the two and Neymar not jumping meant he got injured. I personally think Zuniga probably tried to hit Neymar but I think the circumstances made it dangerous moreso than any intent. And like I said, I definitely wouldn't say it was conclusive.

You arebdead wrong, those muscels are thick as hell and for the sole purpose tovprotect.your spine. It is a very durable body part considering it holds your bodys weight. Had Hulk been hit un there he would have probably walked it off.

Do you really have thick muscles covering your lombar vertebraes' spines?? Because if so, you are such a damn genetically lucky guy.

Fouls of that style, not in that area of contact. If you have seen someone barge into and knock down a standing player I'm not sure you've ever seen a full match.

A 85-year-old guy who couldn't afford to go to the Maracana final just made a deal with FIFA swapping his 1950 unused ticket for two 2014 tickets for him and his nephew. Awesome.

Looking forward to the Fred hattrick in the semifinal against Germany.

They made him give back the ticket? That shit is worth a lot of money and will probably go to some sort of exhibition. Nice gesture, but in economic terms I think he actually got screwed.

Yeah but "in every match" really completes the "world cup of exagerations".

I'm not saying Zuniga should get a ban for that because we aren't sure he did it on purpose anyway and Neymar will be out for "only" 6 weeks, and in fact there were fouls even at this WC which were harder than that (Matuidi).

I have seen a foul of hat style (again, not area of contact) in 90% of the matches I've seen. It happened multiple times last night and in other matches at the World Cup. But there's really no point in arguing semantics.
