Tactics Help!?!?!?

Can anyone help me with tactics, I really suck at making em with this game, in CM I can easily make great tactics but with this game I struggle to beat Birmingham with Arsenal.
Here's an example of what tactic I've been using....

Team Arsenal
Formation 4-3-1-2
Counter Attack= Yes
Defence |Deep| OOOXOOOOO |Pressing|
Focus |Defence| OOOOOOOXO |Attack|
Passing |Short| OOOOOXOOO |Long|
Attacking |Patient| OOOOOOOXO |Direct|
Distribution |Central| OOOOXOOOO |Wing Play|

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong???

It's not just dependent on the tactics - it also depends on your tactical rating - which can be found in the training section. If you're chopping and changing your tactics too much then the players can't get used to what you want. Keep to one set of tactics and only change a certain number of variables for each match.

For example, I'd guess Birmingham City are a hard-tackling route-one team. So you need good tacklers in the midfield to pass the ball out wide, away from their players, along with putting your defenders deep (to protect against the ball). Move the focus of your team back a bit I'd suggest (doesn't mean I'm right).

And also it depends on the players - while Arsenal will be a cultured side, Italian players (for example) will take longer to adapt to the Premiership than, say, Scandinavians.
