Sven's warning to England fans

I suppose you've all heard about Sven saying that English fans travelling to Turkey to watch Turkey-England in the final qualifying game of the group are risking their lives by doing so.

If the situation in Turkey is so bad as to pose a threat to the lives of travelling fans then why are Turkey still in the tournament? Otherwise, why, if it's so bad for travelling fans to go and support their team why don't they play the game behind closed doors to all fans?

What about the Turkish FA saying they'll sell tickets to the English fans if the English FA don't? If there are incidents would the Turkish FA then be held accountable for their actions by UEFA/FIFA if the English FA are doing everything they can to stop there being trouble?

I know English fans have developed a hooligan stereotype in Europe (and who can blame them after scenes in the past (and quite recent past too)) but they aren't the only ones. They seem to be the ones getting punished and threatened with expulsion all the time though.

I also think this is downright bollocks. We are able to host away supporters and guarantee safety on the home ties, yet when the boots on the other foot, we are forced to travel with no support??!?! This is completely unfair.

If Turkish authorities cannot guarantee the safety of away supporters either they shouldn't take part or host the game in a neutral safe environment.

Somebody needs to face the problem and not just say "oh we won't let any fans go then" because its unfair on the players to play with no support what so ever......

listen for ****s sake guys when did anything ever happen to international, champions league, uefa cup team fans except one ****ing incident with the leeds fans? nothing has every happened. if there is any ****ing incident then the fa pays for it but if there was anything ever before do u think we would actually be in the tournaments? i dont think so. i see everyone here talking bout how bad it is to go to turkey but i dont see anyone stating one different example except the leeds fans.

every time a turkish team and an english team have played ever since the leeds accident something has happened.. so why would you think nothing will happen on a match that will decide the outcome of the group for the euro?

i know it can happen in any match.. but it happened on an england-turkey game.. so you would think the turkish FA would be a bit smarter about it

Sukur, there are troubles at just about every match that English teams and Turkish teams have played since the Leeds fans were murdered. It just seems that the English (and, trust me, I wouldn't be first to defend England) are getting somewhat the bum deal from this. They were threatened with expulsion after the trouble that flared at the last International meeting and I can't remember (maybe it just wasn't reported) Turkey being warned as well.

They English FA are trying to solve the problem (and the Turkish FA aren't helping by saying they'd sell tickets to English fans if the English FA don't). But if they feel that it's necessary to stop the English team having support in a match where they could probably do with it then it's something UEFA should look at.

...and either Sven's overreacting, or if the problem is so bad in Turkey that football fans would be risking their lives by going to watch their team play then UEFA should definately step in and the best thing would be to play the game behind closed doors.

England are made an example of by FIFA.

There are countries who act worse, and get away with no penalities , warnings or nothing. It unfair, and stupid.

And this is For the Good of the Game eh? Fifa?

Can you imagine if it was a Turkish supporter that got murder in England? instead of a Leeds one?

Boy oh boy, you think England would be allowed to play International Football? I bet you Fifa would of banned them. Its just double standards.

Turkey is surely more safe than england..hooligans are the worst of all

I don't think it's a question of which country is the safest. The hooligans from both country's will probably already have there fight planned in some place nowhere near the match venue. There probably sending e-mails to each other now, this is why police intelligence is so important for findind out where and when the trouble is going to happen.

I meant to say Turkey is safer in and around stadiums.

WTF England matches have stewards all over the place and is heeving with police!!

The Turkish police are probably bias and turn a blind eye if the Turkish fans are misbehaving!

shox u know what you are a very biased personbecause you are talking out of your ass one incident has happened 3 years ago and you are still holding account as a reason for cops to turn their heads away from hooligans. how would you know how safe is turkey. either you are that dumb or you are that much of a child to say such a thing.

For your information, I was laughing at the "Turkey Is more safer than England" Part.

Very bias? You know nothing about me.

If anyone is talking out of there :drevil: "ASS" :drevil: Its you and your boys, now grow up and go home.

I know some England fans want to travel, but it's just not worth it in my opinion.

I know the fans have alot of passion, but when they go they're gonna get wound up and something will happen, and the wrath of FIFA will fall on England, no matter who did it, sadly.
