Brett Ormerod opened the scoring after just 7 minutes, slotting home Jo Tessem's flick on from 6 yards. Michael Ballack equalised in the 60th minute who drove the ball in low from just inside the area.

It was for the inaugral Ted Bates Trophy, in memory of the long serving club president who died last month.

Well a draw is not so bad for us because Southampton are probably playing at their best level atm while we just came back from the winter break. Furthermore Kahn was missing, I'm sure he would've saved that shot.


Anyway, we are lucky to play the worst Bundesliga team on Saturday.

Niemi did VERY well to save Makaay's damn strike. That was nice.

I didn't see the game but heard it was fairly even, both sides put out weakened teams tho.

I heard about Niemi's save... he's amazing! ATM i reckon he's the best keeper in the leauge.

i'm guessing they share the trophy... i'm pretty suprised it didn't go down to penalties.

it's a good morale booster for us, as we haven't been playing v. well in recent weeks, so drawing w/ one of the best teams in europe is pretty damn good!

Mate, you know my feelings on Uncle Antti.

It's no surprise. Some of the saves he made for us were beyond world class and a football rarity - he genuinely loved Hearts, the Jambos and Edinburgh! I'm sure he said in an interview leaving us was like leaving a true love

Gotta admit, you got steal of the century getting him for £2m!
