Sound problem.

I have onboard sound on my gateway pc. I have headphones that i plug in on the face of my computer. I always use headphones cuz the parents dont like the load sound roaring through the house with normal speakers.All this time i thought that there was no commentary in my game but when i finally used my speakers one day i hear it, so i plug in my heapdhones and the commentary is gone. I assume the driver for the front Carlos on my pc are out of date but i have no idea how to update these drivers. Or could t be a different problem any ideas?

okay i think i have found my problem, on the back of my pc where my speakers are plugged in there are 4 ports which i assume are for 4 speaker surroud sound. my speakers take up 2 where my headphones take up one i tried to put my headphones in one and all i hear is the game sound, so i try the other, and i only hear commentary. I guess my problem is to just buy surround sound stereo headphones.
