Ive been making kits for a while now just for my own personal use, and ive never really been happy with my method of shading/texture...
I build the kit and come up with this...
I then put the texture.bmp on top, set the opacity to 30%, and duplicate it twice.. (for some reason i find that this works better than just setting one at 50-60%???).. which leaves me with this..
I then go to Images>Adjustments>Variations and play around untill i'm 'happy' with it..
Generally, i think my kits looks good and i'm quite happy with them, But i never seem to be able to get the same shade of white/black as pede and the rest of the kitmakers, which makes them stand out in game...
SO!!! How do the pro's do it!!??!!?
And i'm aware that alot of the patterns on my kits are copies of other peoples. I have no intention of releasing these, so i just assumed no one would care..
