I'm making a compilation CD of just Ska music (punk music but with trumpets etc.) so could anyone (William, Lennon, Tom Green???) with a good knowledge of punk or ska please reccomend some really good ska songs for my CD.

So far I have...

Capdown - Ska Wars
Capdown - Cousin Cleotis
Less Than Jake - All My Best Friends Are Metalheads
Mad Caddies - Road Rash
Mad Caddies - I'm So Alone
Bosstones - The Impression That I Get (Knock On Wood)
Sell Out - Reel Big Fish

That's all so far but I'm trying to get up to about 15 songs.

Thanks,
Mishkin :)

Al's War
Best Wishes To Your Black Lung
Boring Town (I think everyone knows this one tho?)
Great American Sharpshooter (Short song, but really cool)
Krazy Glue
Look What Happened (Y)

Check those out if you dunno them. You'll like em.

Thanks heaps for that Kader. :D I was going to say that I wanted a lot more Less Than Jake. I love 'All My Best Friends Are Metalheads' but I haven't really heard any of their other songs.
Is there any other program I can download the songs with because I don't think Kazaa works anymore.

Switch it up in the middle of the CD a lil' bit. Download a few songs by "The Specials", close to the founders of ska in the late 70's/early 80's. I'd recommend "Free Nelson Mandela" and "Nite Klub"

Of course if you're looking for "Punk with Horns" as opposed to actual ska, then take the advice of everyone before me.

Actually The Specials are ska-revival, the very first ska was played by a bunch of black guys in dancehalls in Jamaica in the 60s, Desmond Dekker and The Skatalites are good examples of this.
My favorite Specials song is definitely "A Message to you Rudy".

Yes, as mentioned before, The Skatellites are the originators and still around today.

For modern punk/ska, try The Agents, The Skoidats or Inspector 7.

Peace

Yes that's the first, but it is so close to reggae that I honestly don't think that I would label it ska if I heard it. You could play me a track by Desmond Dekker and I'd tell you it was 100% reggae.

English Beat also.
