So many rejected bids over the last couple years, but I was able to land Julian Brandt on January 1st. Druissi and Iturbe have been underwhelming in their debut seasons. Demari Gray is my most consistent performer on the wing. Have gone to a diamond a few times because of the inconsistency.

City win the Europa League (does that mean I get a spot in the CL!?!?)....

No, because United won the fucking Champions League. 6th Place United going to the CL :(

At least I beat Bournmouth 5-0 in the FA Cup Final.

Berahino is out and me not being in the CL, I really don't have any good options for strikers. So...

Leicester went down and I signed Jamie Vardy. Also picked up Donis Avidjaj from Schalke for 21m (so fucking overpriced). Vardy is tutoring Avidjaj. Would be hilarious in real life.

I thought they got rid of that rule after Liverpool? Only 4 teams from any nation could qualify for the Champions League?

In any case, a side out of the top 4 qualifying for Europe doesn't give the league an additional Champions League spot as far as I'm aware. (Does the Europa League winner even qualify for the Champions League?)

They changed it this past year. Spain had 5 teams in the Champions League because Sevilla won Europa and Barcelona won CL. Get up on your football current events!

I can't keep up.

Even the wiki page still says a nation can't have more than 4 sides:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Champions_League#Qualification

Suggests that if a side qualifies by winning a European competition that the lowest league qualifier from that nation drops down to Europa League. So that would have been Valencia. But seems that's changed again now? Tottenham must be annoyed that Valencia get to play Champions League but they didn't.

In any case: even if United didn't win the Champions League you wouldn't have qualified. A side finishing outside of the top 4 and winning in Europe gets qualification, however a side finishing in the top 4 AND winning Champions League doesn't get the next best league finisher an additional spot.

The next season I finished 2nd with 84 points. United had 86. Man U lost on the final match day. I also lost, blowing the title. Here is my squad for Year 5.

GK: Predrag Rajkovic
DR: Jorge Cancelo
DC: Kostas Manolas
DC: Reece Oxford
DL: Jorge
MC: Kristoffer Ajer (c) - yes, he's only 21
MC: Joshua Kimmich
MC: Mateo Kovacic
AMR: Leroy Sane
AML: Kingsley Coman
ST: Aykut Bagci (Turkish Regen... Martial signed on a free this summer, but Man U neglected his development)

I did win the title that season. Was a fun 5 or so years with Newcastle.

Think I'm going to start up a You Don't Win Anything With Kids save with Partizan. Their youth system is ridiculous and you have control over two clubs.

Sounds cool. How do the rules work in such a game? Do you plan on playing by all the rules of such a challenge or will you still sign players?

No buying players. I thought about modifying it so that I could buy Serbians under 20, so I may do that at some point, but for the first few years I'm not planning any purchases. The goal initially is to get all the facilities as high as possible. I sacked the entire scouting team.

I've tried this with Bilbao in the past and it was fun, but I could never win the league. I shouldn't have that problem in Serbia.

Partizan has been very fun so far. I have been a little more loose with the rules than I intended initially, but I'm not out there chasing the dragon yet. My scouts are more or less looking exclusively for Serbians. In fact, through my 2 full seasons I have bought only 2 non-Serbs:

An American regen who didn't cost a dime because he was with a non-professional club, and Andrei Ivan, a very good Romanian striker from Craiova for 5.5m. Unfortunately, in order to sign he demanded an 8.25m release clause, so I lost him a year later to Hoffenheim. However, through negotiation I was somehow able to also procure 50% of the future fee.

Year 1 we won the domestic double and made it to the Europa League Quarter Final. Year 2 we only won the league, but we made it to the First Knockout Round in the Champions League, and it should have been the Quarters. We were up 3-1 on aggregate after the home leg, and it was 0-0 in the 80th minute in our away leg against Sporting in Portugal. We had 5 clear cut chances without a goal. Sporting scored twice in the last 10 minutes and sent us out.

I have remade the squad quite a bit now, and it is extremely domestic based, obviously. I signed Ivanovic on loan this year just because I can. I'm making 15m each year on average, and it will be at least that much again if I can make the CL Group Stage by advancing past former Yugoslavian League rival Dinamo.

My two best youngsters, by far, are Sasa Lukic and Jovon Nisic. Obviously Zivkovic would be here, but his contract expires at the end of the first season and he does not want to extend. While I was forced to sell him, I got 7.5m from Real Madrid, which was a pretty good deal. He also came in on loan in 16/17 and had over an 8 average rating.

I'm playing Benfica for a fun game and also Renato Sanches. I'm in love with this Lindelof guy and I guess he was good in real life last season. Great squad player; fills in centrally and at right back.

Going to try something I saw on YouTube. Taking over PSG, but only using French players. I will allow guys born in France like Mahrez who declared for sometime else, but only nationals. First season will be the toughest.

Are you selling all foreigners in the first transfer window? Or do you stick a new guy like Krychowiak in the reserves?

E: Krychowiak not a good example (unless you use a db update). Whoever they signed in '15.
