Today, on August 26, UEFA Champions League 2010/2011 draw has been held in Monaco. Shakhtar Donetsk, being in the 2nd seeding pot, has been drawn in the Group H along with Arsenal (England), Braga (Portugal) and Partizan (Serbia)

Today on 31 August FC Shakhtar have signed the Academy trained Vitaliy Vitsenets back.

This spring his playing rights were transferred to FC Zorya Luhansk, where Vitsenets spent the second part of the 2009/2010 domestic season and managed to launch the new one.

FC Shakhtar acquired the player’s transfer rights, so the new recruit is ready for Shakhtar action again. The deal is signed for a five year period.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan seals FC Shakhtar switch
The First Team has been bolstered with another skillful player, as all necessary papers had been signed to seal a five year Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move from FC Metalurh Donetsk to FC Shakhtar. The transfer deal fee amounted to USD 7.5 million.

The Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan was born on 21 January 1989 in Yerevan. At the beginning of his career Henrikh played 69 games and scored 30 goals for Pyunik (Armenia). He joined Metalurh Donetsk in the 2009/10 season, where managed to deliver 12 strikes, having played 36 matches.

As an Armenian cap Henrikh Mkhitaryan appeared at 15 matches, scoring 2 goals.

With the Ukrainian transfer window closed tomorrow two Shakhtar players have joined FC Zorya.

These are Roman Yemelyanov and Ruslan Fomin. From now on both players will appear for FC Zorya on loan – before the end of a fall part of domestic Championship.

The International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) named FC Shakhtar Donetsk the best club in the world in November.

Last month the Pitmen won all their fixtures both in domestic and international arenas. Having scored the highest possible points (48), Shakhtar moved from 56th to 28th spot in the Club World Ranking. Other Ukrainian top-clubs such as Dynamo, Karpaty, Meatlist and Dnipro also enhanced their positions. Kyiv-based Arsenal made a breakthrough in the best 300 clubs.
