SG's Premier League All Time XI - 4. Centre Backs

Alright, well, the voting for the first three positions was all definitive, and pretty predictable, but I reckon this may be a lot closer...

The team so far:

GK: Peter Schmeichel (62.07%)
DR: Gary Neville (64.29%)
DL: Ashley Cole (66.67%)

(Percentage of votes shown in brackets).

The polls for those positions have now been closed, but you can still post in the threads if you want.

Now it is time to elect our centre-backs.

As the teams needs two centre-backs, you are allowed to vote for TWO of the above. However, I have set it so we can see the names of voters so if anyone cheats and votes for more than two I will delete those votes.

Whether you chose to vote for the two best individuals, or the two you think would work best together, I'll leave up to you....

Stam, obviously. For the second one I was considering Desailly and Adams too, but the bias got me again.

Yeah, I thought it would be tight but I didn't think Stam would be one of the main contenders. I mean, he was very good but I would only put him about in the middle of those players.

I would probably rank them like this:

1. Terry
2. Adams*
3. Vidic
4. Campbell
5. Ferdinand
6. Stam
7. Bruce
8. Carragher
9. McGrath
10. Desailly**

* I have possibly placed Adams higher than his actual ability warrants based on his iconic status and phenomenal on pitch influence

** As a Chelsea fan it really pains me to rank Desailly last, but in fairness I have to admit that he enjoyed his best years well before coming to the Premier League. The Desailly of Serie A would be right up near the top.

Milan's Desailly would be #1. No question.
