Icardi is also another absolute steal at this stage.

Yeah, both excellent. Even the John Stones pick is a very good one at this stage, given that he has been, and will continue to be, a starter for Pep. Shows there are still a lot of excellent players still unpicked.

Those Barca players are all elite of the elite level passers. They don't have to defend beyond pressing because they always have the ball. You don't have anywhere near the level of talent in that respect. Rakitic is a better passer than anyone you have, to say nothing of Messi, Busquets, and Iniesta. To play that system you need to utterly dominate possession, and I'm not sure you will. You have a lot of bruisers and counter attack guys, not short passing, deliberate build up play types.

You think Rakitic is a better passer than David Silva? Anyway, I compared my team to Ajax 95, not Barca (that was simply in reply to Mandieta6's claim that Barca had abandoned the tactic), and aimed to build a similar profile but as a modern iteration. Shifty is right here, not to mention that the formation in that photo is nowhere near what the team actually looked liked on the pitch this season.

I just think in particular, Rijkaard, de Boer, and Seedorf were vastly more skilled players. That old van Gaal system would be totally ineffective in 2017 too. No creativity, just feed the wings and if by a miracle there isn't a 1v1, recycle. No counter. Also, Ronald de Boer started for that team didn't he? And he was a carelleiro, not a holder like keita.

I wanted Renato as he is exactly the kind of player I need to link my midfield and crazy attack - strong battering ram - but I didn't dare pick him because I thought he'd take too much SG abuse. I still think he'll be a great player some day.

Of course, I was talking about the matches we played with a 3 man defensive line. The team didn't look like that at all. Rafinha (sorry for tipping but it was already done by his pic) played almost sticked to the touch line, mostly as a RWB, and on the other side Neymar made a huge effort to cover in every match we played that way.

How did Lukaku last this long? I was already wondering about it rounds ago, but forgot about him. Just shows how many great attackers there are at the moment. Each draft you realize which are the positions that have smaller margins separating the players at the top. Would be useful to do that beforehand.

Martial was another I expected to go earlier. He was great last season and most of the stalling this season wasn't his fault, and I still enjoyed watching him in some games
