About time Koulibaly went - he would have been my pick a few rounds ago if I missed out on Bailly. Sepak next - let's hope he'll be less tardy this time - remember, he only has 5 hours now.

Good team.
Thanks. I wanted a blend of youth and experience, pace and precision. Delighted that I was able to land players who are Team and/or Player of the Year candidates/winners in virtually every position.

Lots of goals and assists across the pitch, and plenty of magic from guys like Dybala and Ousmane Dembele, amongst others.

My only concern is that you have just a back three with no wing backs and only one shielding midfielder. I think you may need to bolster that against some attacks. But I like the players you picked and the way it fits together.

I never liked Can at RB. He had a good season or two in central midfield.

Yes, but he would be a RB like Lahm was under Pep. Which is to say not really at all.

I really, really, really despise that I need to click on the thread, get taken to first page then manually go to the last page. That shit is stupid.

The defensive phase would like this (when needed):

The formation and tactic itself is modeled on Ajax 1995, except mirrored (left to right):

  • Overmars/Dembele: Truly ambidextrous wingers with blistering pace. Ousmane Dembele also has a much higher ceiling than Overmars, and is already displaying it.
  • Finidi/Mane: Pacey wingers who can both cross and contribute goals.
  • Kluivert/Morata: Strikers with good height, excellent in associative play, and can break at pace.
  • Litmanen/Dybala: Shadow strikers with a lot of flair and creativity.
  • Seedorf/David Silva: Pass masters.
  • Davids/Naby Keita: Defensive midfielders who are excellent in possession. Keita is not a pitbull, but he is a modern defensive midfielder who can also contribute goals.
  • Rijkaard/Bakayoko: Anchors who bring physicality to complement technical players: ball-winners who can tuck into the back line when needed.
  • Reiziger/Azpilicueta: Fullbacks who can operate in a back 3.
  • Frank de Boer/Koulibaly: Center backs who can push wider from a back 3 to a back 4 when needed. Koulibaly also has good pace for a central defender.
  • Blind/Hummels: Ball-playing center backs.
  • Van der Sar/Buffon: Goalkeepers who know how to play with a back 3. Buffon is not just a shot-stopper; his passing and distribution numbers in the UCL are amongst the best.
