SG Chat or IM

I know we experimented with this long ago and it fizzled out, but I wondered if any consideration had been given to an SG chat room, or an Instant Messenger, or something else to fill in those dull minutes while you wait for someone to reply to one of your posts...?

Actually, that sounds like a good idea. Lots of forums have instant chat features, it shouldn't be too hard to implement (although shoutboxes, which are easy to use, also suck balls, a proper chatroom would be nicer).

Ultimately the best set up would be one where we would be forced to use the same usernames and it could be in a separate section so it doesn't bother us.

Haha unless it's a built in sidebar or something like the facebook one it will die within 3 hours.....

The Admins will have to add a Chat tab somewhere easily visible.

Pretty much same on SS at minute not many people use chat there either.

I would worry about instant chat taking away even more posters from the forum. Especially areas like the lounge

Maybe, but chat conversation and posting conversation is quite different usually.

Anyway, I just made this thread when I was bored and wanted someone to talk to, and Horatiu nobly stepped up to the breach! I dont actually expect it to be acted upon....

I don't really see the point of a chat room for a forum. PM is there when needed.
