Vladimir Romanov tonight strongly hit back at allegations that he is on the brink of firing Hearts' coach Valdas Ivanauskas.

He condemned the report as "total nonsense" and gave his complete backing to the Lithuanian ahead of Sunday's clash against Celtic.

Romanov also ordered club officials to assure the Hearts team that there was no truth in this "scurrilous report".

Today's Daily Record said that there was a furious bust-up between the Hearts owner and Ivanauskas in Bosnia after Wednesday's 0 - 0 Champions League clash with Siroki Brijeg.

The result meant Hearts' qualified for the next round by 3-0 on aggregate. "I want to assure our players and fans that this is not true," said Romanov. "Nothing like this happened. This journalist is writing total nonsense.

He added: "I did see Valdas, but it was a very brief meeting as I was going to my car. He was on the way to the after-match press conference, and I had to rush to a business meeting. This is how we met. I shook his hand, said 'well done' for getting through to the next round - and we both ran to our meetings. We did not have phone conversations after that and certainly there were no rows. I have full confidence in Valdas."

Romanov said that he had not gone to the same airport as the team, where, according to one account, the alleged row with Ivanauskas took place. Instead he had gone by car to a business meeting in Sarajevo.

He stressed: "This story is simply invented but I can see perfectly well what the target is. The aim is to wreck the team's mood ahead of a big game. This is how it was last year as well when newspapers were running invented stories before our key games with the aim of completely destroying players confidence.

"Each time before such games they start this verbal diarrhoea. It's such nonsense and it raises questions about the newspapers which publish such stories."

Celtic may have trouble scoring goals with two of their best gone to the EPL so I'll give Rangers the edge...a slight edge cause I've been a fan of Paul Le Guen's way of playing.

1. Rangers
2. Celtic
3. Hearts
4. Hibernian

Hearts 2nd, Celtic 3rd.

lol at that team

Tosiek

Słowiańska Dusza
Rangers 2 - 2 Dundee United

Final score could be 5:5 or more :fool: Robb scored awesome own goal. Don't like Rangers but I must say that Chris Burke is cool. He played well since he entered on the pitch.

Aberdeen 1-1 Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Falkirk 1-0 Dunfermline Athletic
Kilmarnock 2-1 Hibernian
St Mirren 2-0 Motherwell

It could be 3:1 but referee saw Bednar on offside ( of course he wasn't on offside) :nape: That what Lennon did in the last minutes was stupid as hell.

Celtic are TERRIBLE! Worse than last year!

As Tosiek pointed out Bednar was well onside on his disallowed goal. Today Hearts beat 14 men. Apparently, on the winning goal, the linesman actually flagged Bednar offside (!!!) despite Lennon playing a dreadful passback. The usual Old Firm officiating. In the 2 SPL games I've been at this season, this is going to be a bigger struggle against cheating West Coast officials and the Gutter Glasgow press than ever.

Oh, and to sum up the day (H):

They played terrible and had terrible away kits. This is one of the reasons why they lost.

Help?

Man, that's awesome. Hearts showing that last year wasn't a fluke. Watch them make the group stages of CL :ewan:

I hope the great João Cascas returns soon enough to help you guys clinch the title, wish all the best to him and Hearts :jap:

also I heard Bruno Aguiar was doing well there, good for him...

Hmm, bit of a strange one on Bruno. He has a good enough technical ability on the ball, but his defensive qualities I'd argue are somewhat suspect. Never seems to be tight closing down on any midfield passes, he gets turned so easily it's laughable. I feel uncomfortable having him in midfield for the AEK matches.

Mind you, he can certainly hit a ball! He has a fetish for hitting the bar/post in the past few games :p

he was never good at performing defensive tasks in the midfield...I believe that was one of the reasons why Benfica let him go.
he does have a good shot and technique and is creative enough with the ball, but even in Portugal he was too inconsistent.
