"Salary" field/attribute in WE7I--what for?

So I noticed in WE7I that aside from the actual salary that you are paying your players, there is a "Salary" field/attribute for each player that you can see by scrolling through the players' stat sheets. At least for all my players, this value is always different from their actual salary. What does this attribute mean? Is it basically what they're really worth? Or is it the salary they really want? Thanks for the info.

I think I've found the answer to my own question. The "Salary pts" field/attribute for the player is what he is really being paid, whereas when you go to the negotiation screens the displayed salary is what their going price is based on their stats and how well/how much they've been playing.

For instance, playing as Liverpool I signed Hyypia from the unsigned players pool with a salary of about 760 WEN. After playing with him as a starter for 1/2 a season in Div. 1 and being at the top of the league, when I go to the player negotiation area it lists his "salary" as 900 WEN, which is actually his current market value. Over the same period of time Ljungberg's going rate transfer fee jumped from 8500 to 9500 WEN. He's also a starter on my team.

On the other hand, I've had 2 Korean backfielders with a salary of 100 WEN apiece for about 2 years now, and since I only play them sparingly as reserves their market value is still only 100 WEN.

Looking at Ljungberg's transfer fee hike above, it seems that you can make a tidy profit on the transfer market if you sign good players from teams that aren't doing so well, play them often to increase their transfer fee, then hope that somebody offers to buy them off you.
