Apparently he's been finding it difficult to get a lot of game time this season, he was injured for some of the season but not all of it - and theyve just signed another apparently good centre back from Hoffenheim called Sule. He's 28 but I'd say he's got to be worth 40m, but the concern is apparently the reason we're looking at him is because Southampton want too much for Van Dijk, and I can't see how Boateng could be cheaper than him...

Would Bayern sell? You'd have to break the bank, surely?

I don't know. Yes, the rumor is that he's been upset about his playing time this season as Ancelotti has done his damndest to alienate just about everyone on the team except for 11 players. I really really just want Carlo out of here before he does lasting damage to this team. We already lost Kroos for stupid reasons, we don't need to lose Muller, Boateng, Costa, etc.

Oh and tits.
Doubt this transfer happens. If he was available everyone would want him.

I'm interested to see how Chelsea go about improving their squad. This link to Tiemoue Bakayoko is recurrent but I think he is a nothing player honestly and brings nothing to Chelsea. They also need two top quality players in fullback, a CB, striker, attacking/central midfield playmaker and a right winger. Given how things went last summer with Conte bringing in Alonso and being linked to mostly Serie A based players I have doubts they'll be able to do whats needed or to the extent.

Looks like United are set to beat us to bakayoko anyway. I would still love Nainggolan but for some reason that link isn't coming up this year - I would have thought this was prime time to raid roma. I am concerned that if City, United, PSG and real get all their targets (and they do seem more decisive and willing to spend high that us - I remember when we were the biggest dogs in the transfer market :( ), there won't be much left for us. There's this Torino kid (belotti) but he's super expensive and I can't believe he's that good given the season torino have had. I really hope we don't get stuck with lukaku or morata and van dijk etc.

Naingolan wants to stay at Roma. Like he is hell bent on staying there. Bakayoko wouldn't be a big miss imo. Belotti is good but he is too expensive and not that good.

That's what I'm thinking. For whatever reason and despite having money as well as being PL champions you weirdly don't have the pull. I guess Conte's lack of contacts outside of the Italian market and his preference for players who would fit in to his methods shortens the options for you.

I think you need to be creative and Conte needs to be more flexible in terms of his formation to get in some players. Creative as in promote some of your loaned out stars like Christensen, Musonda, Traore, Ake etc who have done well and have good potential to give them a shot. Do your maximum to get in James for example and two more players of that level in striker and CB. Then there is a market for players who are not exactly top quality yet but performing at a good level now with a high ceiling like Thomas Lemar or Nabil Fekir, Tolisso etc who fit the profile you need/missing from the team.

I think you may need to find another formation and style to play in the CL and going forward to fit in top quality players really.

I don't think it's that we don't have the pull, I just think we haven't come up with a firm, ruthless and decisive transfer strategy yet and are dithering with discussions between conte, abramovic and the board whilst our rivals are making moves. I am sure we could have beaten PSG to aumbemayang or could even take Greizman from under the nose of United if we were committed to it, but for some reason (maybe because we still had things to win) we seem to have postponed making decisions till the end of the season whilst our rivals made theirs already.

Yeah, I guess you have to have a strategy early and be decisive given the state of the market.

Thats where I'm worried about with Arsenal. Likeliness of us still planning whilst all the players available are gone and we end up with average players on high wages once again.

We bid 87m Pounds for Mbappe! Rejected but its the first bid. He is the best player I've seen in years. Don't care if he joins Barcelona or Madrid in a few years. This would be EPIC on so many levels and the clubs prospects.

Would be a good destination for Mbappe (game time and development) EXCEPT huge transfer fee means he will never be sold and will be stuck there for 5 years. This is the problem young players face now - ideal for mbappe would be to do a suarez, move to Arsenal for 30m now and on to Real for 80m in three years, but the market doesn't work that way anymore. the downside of the huge transfer fees for players is that it really is a 5-year commitment.

In 5 years he'll be 23 and thats still very young to get to move to Real for a huge fee if things go well. The market is complicated though now I agree and by that time a lot will change no doubt.

With City buying any player who can pass 5 yards for 40 million its completely mental at the moment. If they don't win big next season everyone will still find excuses for Joe Pep.
