Worked out great for us with Remy and Costa.

To be fair though, Benteke is the best they can hope for. Even in general, not just strikers where the market is scarce anyway, they can't attract superstars. They need to roll the dice on mid-level studs and hope one of them turns into a superstar. If they can get lucky on 2-3 maybe they can get a foothold on European qualification and start attracting stars again.

I mean, even when they were last successful, under Rafa, they would prefer to buy a handful of unproven players and had a massive turnstile system going on. That was because Rafa was stupid and incompetent but maybe that approach has remained because they only remember the good transfers (of which they had plenty) rather than the bad (of which they had plenty-er).
