that would be excellent! because i so want to see him at the world cup ...

but you really think he is suddenly going to drop all that weight by the end of May? coz that's as much time as he would have to be named in the squad ... and judging from how obese (not just fat, obese) he looked that video of the Corinthians match from this past week, he has got a long way to go! I can't see him making it ... having said that, I can't tell you how happy I would be if I'm proven wrong ...

those who follow him closely during corinthians trainings swear that he's a new Ronaldo when compared to last year's. he's really focused on going to world cup and counting on some "miracle" - Since Dunga seems steady and completely decided about his 23 men - on changing the coaching comission's heart. but until then he'll play his best and of course, lose weight.

and if u want my opinion, I'll play Obama here: yes, he can. He's surrounded by high professionals that take care of that specific weight problem. all he must do is act like a man, a 33 years old one he is.

excellent ... more power to him then, because you would have to be either very stubborn or very stupid to leave a fit Ronaldo behind -- Dunga is the former for now; he may yet be the latter [too] ...

Looks like Ronaldo's a fan of Coldplay, still looking tad bit heavy.

I've never seen something like this from him. He also showed middle finger to the fans, shambolic.

Another World Cup seems impossible.

since I last posted here, his game level dropped utter and shockingly. I don't understand, really don't. And yesterday he wasn't too far from the video above. Horrendous ball controls. Wrong passing. A consistent and visible lack on interest in the match. It hurts to see him like that.

last time we talked about Ronaldo's World Cup chances, you said it was possible -- because he was working hard and losing weight ... but I think Ronaldo's realized that if Dunga was not going to even consider Ronaldinho for his team, despite Dinho doing as well as he has done for Milan this season, then Ronaldo himself had no shot, especially with as little time as there is before the squad convenes for the pre-tournament camp ... I think he's lost his motivation/interest because he has realized that any dream of his to play in South Africa is as good as over, and there really isn't much left to play for for him ... sad but true, I think ...

A quote from an interview with Ronaldo last week (original text in Portuguese)

Ronaldo is resigned. The Corinthians' striker wouln't call himself up for the Brazilian National team should he replace the manager Dunga. He would, however, call up another veteran for the World Cup: the left-back Roberto Carlos, his friend and teammate in Corinthians.

"Dunga must pick the players who are currently in better form. As for me, I had a very difficult beginning of season due to the muscular injury, and haven't reached my best form yet. Roberto, however, is showing he is still important for Brazil. He is scoring goals and playing well. (...)"

Ronaldo demonstrated class and good sense in admitting like this that he shouldn't go to South Africa, and is probably well aware he is past his peak in physical terms. No reason to cry about it any further, let's move on...

Last night, after Corinthians training, when the team came back the day after Libertadores' disqualification, Ronaldo was asked by a radio reporter why there was so much lack of commitment by him about getting in shape.

That was the first time I saw Ronaldo crying. We don't see tears rolling, but he's holding them really tight in his chest.

It's a terrible lack of respect. Ronaldo replied, among other things: 'I'm 33 years old now, I went through eight surgery procedures, many pains...and I have to hear this from you. Anyway, the people is with me. The Corinthians' people is with me'.

'I truly admire US for it. In US, idols are almost untouchable, they talk about Michael Jordan like a God On Earth. I don't want that for me in Brazil, but I think the respect for an athlete's carrer should exist. We're quite delayed in Brazil about it, we should improve that, respect the professional and the citizen's carrer. Evolve, people. We should evolve, not hold still in time'.

Coward. Damn coward media. No player is unvulnerable to critics, but limits can't be crossed. Ronaldo is 250 million euros rich. He could have stopped playing yesterday, after that question if he wanted, and it wouldn't change a thing in his life, his money. He does it because he ENJOYS. And the damn, the evil, the mean brazilian sports media, specially São Paulo's, is crude straight to the bones through the flesh when they want to. It gets me sick.

Now, the chubby bastard will celebrate with his fellows. He'll pretend he was constrained by Ronaldo's crying. Then, he'll go to the next bar, have a beer and brag. His friends will love him, because he gave all the media vehicles the chance to bring the news up to discussion. And possibly, today, when the radio show starts, he won't be mentioned. We won't even listen his voice making the question. Just Ronaldo fighting back. Fighting like a lamb, btw. He holds his cry, a cry of anger, of sadness because of ingratitude. If he wanted to bite like he was bited, he would play the villain. His picture, his words would stamp every goddamn headline of every goddamn newspaper. Mean bastards.

How much of a bitch have you got to be? What sickens me is that it's a question that a Portuguese reporter would probably ask, too. My God. Great answer by Ronaldo, by the way, owned him.
