Rio Ferdinand picked as England Captain

Rio Ferdinand has been chosen as England captain for the game against France, I would like to know what the lads think of this.
Its clear Capello will continue rotating players for England captaincy to find a suitable leader for England by the time the World Cup qualifiers start.
There's also been mentioned of Gareth Barry and Wayne Rooney among others as candidates for England captain.
But who do you think deserves the permanent role as captain among the lot?

Terry, Ferdinand...?

Might as well but it on Barton, hell, bring Lee Bowyer in and give him a go.

lol, i sort of knew that but since this is a long term thing(the England captaincy thing) i was sort of hoping this thread would focus entirely on this matter........

Terry, Gerrard, Rio are already on the list of primary candidates, i didn't list them cause it was obvious that one of those 3 would get it.......but since Capello's experimenting maybe others would get an outside chance..........like Rooney or Barry....

As a Liverpool fan it should pain me to see that saggy-lipped wannabe Ashton Kutcher from Peckham as captain. But as an England fan and a football fan I'd have him over John 'what the @$*^ you on about ref' Terry. He shouldn't have the respect a captain commands if he doesnt show the same respect towards referees and other professionals.

How big is YOUR penis?
Gary Neville...

How come he is always overlooked when it comes to England captaincy ? Dude is the captain of the current reigning EPL champs and he is a 5'10" guy who can take on any 7 footer one on one any day of the week...

Hell, in Old Trafford, Rio and Vidic call him "Daddy"...

No doubt his performance against Liverpool played an important role in the decision. He was in complete control of Torres.

Has Neville played a game this year? anway no Liverpool player in the team would respect him (and yes I know there is only likely to be one Liverpool player on the pitch).

Rio is probably the best choice of a bad bunch. But do the England team really need a captain? surely the players are the best of their nation so do they need motivation or on the pitch organisaion?

On the point of Neville, he's got maybe 2 years left at the highest level imo, especially with all his injuries. So it would be pointless appointing him.

It's a difficult question. I don't seem to like any of the players in the team enough to want any of them to be captain, which is kinda sad. Gerrard for Liverpool seems to be a decent captain, especially in crucial cup situations, which is exactly what England need. Doesn't seem to produce it for England though.

Terry - I wouldn't even have him as a total certainty for the starting 11 if Woodgate or King were on form. I'm not saying I definitely wouldn't play him but he is kinda slow and doesn't seem technically great for international matches.

I suppose I wouldn't have a problem with Ferdinand doing it if he can do a good job, even though he is clearly uncool. Didn't really learn much from the France game. At least he is a dead cert for the first team and doesn't do anything stupid.. (I'm strictly talking about when on the pitch).

Rooney? Is he a serious candidate? If it would give him a sense of responsibility and calm him down, then maybe he could work.

Neville - Everyone hates him and he's injured and old.

Barry - I don't hate him. Would be nice in some ways as England would be important to him when compared to club games, whereas players playing for the top 4 have loads of massive games for their clubs to use up their energy in.

Help?

Does Barry even start?
