As a programer, you should noticed that EA will come up with a new patch.
so, you must have a solutions for this bug' in your program. Can you make your great CM07 to work with the new EA patch?
cuz it such a waste of time to manually update the transfers market.
you have a talent, you program was great (maybe awesome!), so please update it.....
even it will take some time (or more...) to solve or crack that bug'.....
i'm depend on you.....
maybe the others depend on you to!
so, please....:jambo:

the easiest thing to do is to make the changes and save all the players as a .cmp file. then you can import them if you need to reinstall.

To be fair to Rinaldo it isn't a bug in his code but simply a restriction imposed by the way that EA Sports have implemented the patched rosters. The introduction of the PC_CL.BIN file is great for those that only ever use the official patches and don't want to restart their careers every time the rosters are updated but not so good for those that like to tweak their game in a whole variety of ways. It is easy to lose track of this fact in a place like this, but the vast majority of those that own the game play it as it comes out of the box, and may never even check for official updates let alone user-created content.

Unlike FIFA.DB the layout of the PC_CL.BIN appears to be fixed format, so to incorporate it into an editor like CM07 might well place severe restrictions on what you could do with both teams and players (because of the size of the areas set aside for that data).

I don't know anything about the internal format of CM07's patch files, but I wonder if it would be possible for Rinaldo to put together a routine (or something within CM07) to create a CMP from PC_CL.BIN that enables the base FIFA.DB to be updated to reflect the roster updates?? The update file contains only three tables of importance (teamwrite, teamplayerlinks and players) so it ought to be feasible.

No. Just like the squads, manager and tournament mode data files the PC_CL.BIN contains references into FIFA.DB that break when you update it.

Steve has explained the matter very well. This is a design choice, CM07 is dedicated to the editing of fifa.db and this produces some incompatibilities with EA patches. In my opinion the FIFA community is strong enough to keep the database updated without the need to wait for EA patches.
What I am now investigating is the possibility to continue a career after a database editing but this is a different issue.

I apologize if this is off topic...but can Rinaldo or StevePitts (or someone else who knows how to read the necessary files) post a zip file with the PC_CL.bin three tables in an Excel spreadsheet? That would allow the rest of us to use the content from those tables and import it into the main FIFA.db. Then I can use the revised rosters without installing the EA patch, so that I can make more changes to FIFA.db.

Thanks,
firefan98

As you know my utility doesn't export the tables as they stand, but only a .CSV file of player details with the data from various tables rolled up together and output in a more human-readable form. F2K7DUMP will quite happily read data from a PC_CL.BIN if it is present and report on that as the default player data, so you can get part of the way there which may be good enough for what you are suggesting

(FWIW I did send you an email asking if you wanted to test this year's version too, but I didn't get a reply so assumed you weren't interested. Let me know if you'd like a copy of the latest beta - which comes with a GUI front-end now, and whether your email address has changed)

If you have the patched version of FIFA 07 and run F2K7DUMP via the EAFFAnalyser front-end with the 'use patched roster updates?' check box ticked then the default CSV that is generated will contain the player details from PC_CL.BIN (select Normal for the console output level and you should see PC_CL.BIN mentioned in the output).

Steve,

Thanks for the reply, that was exactly the type of information I was looking for.

I did send you an e-mail back asking to beta test F2K7DUMP and you sent it to me. Unfortunately, I had a hard drive crash recently and have been spending my time getting everything re-installed, so I haven't tested it yet. I probably won't get a chance to try this for another week or two, as work has got me quite busy at the moment. Thanks again for creating F2K7DUMP, I used the F2K6DUMP beta all the time and it worked great.

Thanks,
firefan98

I think many people said that PC_CL.BIN couldn't be imported into fifa.db
As things stand there are no tools that allow you to do it, but that it isn't to say it can't be done. The interesting way would be to create a .CMP file that adjusted the delivered FIFA.DB to include the changes in PC_CL.BIN, but it also ought to be possible to update FIFA.DB with the tables in PC_CL.BIN, since that is all the game is doing at run time. Obviously there would need to be some considerable jiggery-pokery under the covers, because PC_CL.BIN contains offset references into the original FIFA.DB, but there must already be code in CM07 to make those adjustments so I reckon it is feasible.

Have you guys come any further with the issue....?
What sort of progress were you looking for?? Until someone sits down and writes the code to handle PC_CL.BIN in their editing tools (or writes a stand-alone tool to read it and roll up its contents into FIFA.DB, either directly or as a CMP) then things are not going to change. Reading that file is simple enough, but it seems that there is no interest in handling it. For myself, I've added the ability to read that data to my code, but I am not into editing the game (with one or two limited exceptions) only reporting on the data, and I am not inspired to stop working on stuff I find useful to play with something that bothers me not one whit (I play with FIFA 07 exactly as it installed out of the box - no 'patches', official or otherwise). I did take a look at the source code for DB Master to see if I could craft a quick and dirty solution, but it is all written in C# and I gave up pretty quickly (I'm a vanilla C man myself)

That's odd because I have sent you the notifications (and other bits and pieces) for at least the last two versions (one on 28 Jan 2007 for v2.00.04, plus a follow up a day or two later, and one on 25 Feb 2007 for v2.00.05, plus several follow ups almost immediately). I can't tell whether or not I sent any versions prior to that because Hotmail does not show BCC lists

I have already asked the beta some time ago but i didn´t received it:nape:
My mail: [email protected]
I have checked and re-checked that email address and it matches the one in my Eudora address book, which also appears in the BCC header of the various outgoing messages. Perhaps I could ask you to send an email to [email protected] and we'll see if that gets through, and if so then I'll try replying and see if I can get a message back to you.

Well it is like this. We at fifa-online.dk (DMT) have held fifa tournaments since '97. First with modem, then direct IP, and now EASO with online patch. We made a DMT file choser so you can change the fifa.db from a DMT MOD to the original and back. So the game will not be locked for EASO use. We have nearly always used a fixed fifa.db every year where all teams are equal. So the player skills termains the game and not the team (Barca). But with the entrance of PC_CL.bin I have a little problem in updating the squads.... Cause the update from EA will not show in fifa.db
That is why I follow this thread closely. :$
