red cards, rules wrongly implied?

While playing with Haarlem, I found myself down to 7(!!) men in minute 51 (!!), as I had a card happy ref, who send of 4 (!!) of my players within the first hour of the game. I only had tackling on medium, which made it even more annoying.

But I thought that if a team has less than 8 players on the pitch, in real life the game would be abonended (& the team would loose 3-0 or something like that)? My game in FM went on 'till the bitter end.

It even got worst, as my striker got injured in minute 70 after I'd used all my substitution already, meaning I had to play the last 20+ minutes with only 6(!!!) players on the pitch. Still the game had to be continued, I was amazed I kept the scoreline to only 0-4.

Is there a minimum amount of players necessary before FM calls the game off due to lack of players or does the game always continue no matter how few players left on the pict? Or is there a "hidden" mechanism that would avoid any more red cards/injuries if you've only got 5 or 6 players left?

I wonder, as I was afraid I'd end the game with 2 or 3 players, as from my 6 remaining players, 5 were on a yellow card as well!
Did anyone else have these kind of situations (or worst)?

Lol, I never had a game with 4 sending offs in one team. I think the computer went a little berserk.

i have had the opposition given 4 red cards, though because it was the computer, they still put up a strong fight!

I once had a game that the opposite team got themselves with 7 man. And by the 61', when they got the 7 man, on pitch, i was losing 1-0. Could draw it 1-1, but after that somehow did the 2-1 (don't ask my how, stupid Ricardo). By the 80'...I was still losing. Did 2-2 and 3-2 in the last play. Crazy match...and it was against a easy team actually.

Sometimes the AI just goes berserk, that is my opinion...

the actual rule is supposed to dictate 5 red cards for a team to stop the game.. btw I dont really get the thing with red card.. when I get 1-0 down, I get a red card soon after 15 mins because one of my men got emotionally attached to the opposition, leading an aimed kick at the opposition.. in %20-25 of the occasions (:/).. and it's coloccini mostly..

So the rules are wrongly implied in FM07 then, as I had 6 players left (4 RC's & 1 injury).

Has anyone ever had a game abandoned due to 1 of the 2 teams having too few players left?
