Yeah but If Australia can't even beat the players from some crap country like Uruguay we don't deserve to be at the World Cup.

But, there was one stage where Oceania was granted direct qualification, then they reversed it, dirty FIFA corruption, just like South American governments. :ewan:

But next World Cup we get to qualify through Asia, even though Australia is not really on the Asiatic continental plate.

Yeah that crappy team that won 2 world cups when Australia hardly could qualify to a single one. How about you slow down because now you are not only messing with Uruguay.
And i'm waiting to see how will Australia surivve the asian eliminatories.

Do you want to know what the sad bit is? Despite Recoba's mediocrity, he was not only responsible for your defeat last Saturday, but for your elimination from World Cup 2002. That doesn't speak very highly of your national team...

Your brain.

Well, you asked.

yeah maybe it was a bit too much to expect a rational balanced reply on the subject from you ,my uptight smartass friend.UEFA teams do not play outside of UEFA during qualification,so why must Oceania play Concacaf?
I'm not taking sides here i just think its a ridiculous situation.

If Australia win, Uruguayan players on return might have to be protected from drug cartel bosses who had money on Uruguay winning, might see some assassinations, never know what you could get over there.

At first, it was kind of funny, now you are just being an ignorant f*ck.

Rational balanced replies... I quit doing those when I realized no one else was doing them either.

In any case, FIFA considers the Qualifiers part of the World Cup, so by participating in Qualifying, you are, in fact, participating in the Cup. The bit with the hosts is only the Finals.

You disregard the "quality of the opposition" as being relevant which I disagree with, for reasons which I've expressed countless times. Check the archive, everything's still there. You can't miss it, just look for whining Australians and lots of caps.

Funny thing about what Ronaldo said. He also insulted Argentina as being dirty too......yet it's odd how he forgot to mention that.

They're scared. Let them be. They're desperate to just even the score with Uruguay (each qualified once) ....and theyll never get that chance again to beat us.

But what an ignorant prick.

You may hate the player, but what do you have against his country?? Calling Uruguay "scum" just made me lose respect for anything else that could have said. Watch your words before you make yourself look like a total dumbas* ;)

Crap country like Uruguay? Have you ever been to Uruguay? Just because it is a small country in South America does not make it insignificant, they've actually won more World Cups than what Australia will ever hope to win. Don't talk out of your as*. God forbid (for you, not me) that Australia does not qualify for the WC, then you will have to eat your own words...

However, at least in a civilised country such as Australia players can make free comments after getting off a plane. At least in Australia there is no need for there to be 1000 riot police outside international football matches because Australians have a little more class than to riot and attack opposition teams, unlike the people from a certain South American country. At least in Australia when players get off a plane they are not spat on, have coins thrown at them and whatever other crazy crap goes on In Uruguay.

Maybe you forgot to add: "At least in Uruguay they win World Cups" ? (H)

No. 1 - My title has been edited, Recoba is a cock.

I think I can rightly critisise Uruguay, a running theme of dirtiness runs through the country. Absolute bums where it is unsafe for foreign teams, i.e. getting spat on. Who the hell needs water cannons and a 1000 armed riot police to prepare for what could happen. What sort of country is that?

My sentiments still remains - Uruguay = dirty. Recoba = crap, can't even make Inter team, does not deserve to be in Serie A, imagine him up against a real player like Vieira.

As for Uruguay being a crap country, all I know is that in Australia foreigners are made welcome. Uruguay seems unsafe to me, at least how you treat foreign football teams.

No, you can't rightly criticize Uruguay, because from your posts it seems that you do not know enough about Uruguay to make any reasonable judgment. All you are doing is assuming which puts in evidence your lack of critical thinking skills. By the way, what happens in the stadium does not necessarily reflect what the country is as a whole. If foreigners were not welcome in Uruguay why would there be so many Europeans coming to their vacation cities year after year? Oh and by the way, wasn't there rioting in some Italian stadiums this year or last year? And that is the first world, not the third world...

Its just pure bad luck that Australia is surrounded by little island nations, without any hope of ever playing consistent good football... THATS who we have to warm up against to play the likes of Uruguay..

Uruguay have played a series of good, competitive games, and are match hardened... Last time we played against anyone of any merit was at the confederations cup, and that was under Farina (Sorry Franky, 'ol pal.. you're a good bloke.. but you're hopeless)

That fact that they only beat us by 1 goal on Sunday, realistically, is pretty pathetic... Cricket, Both Rugby Codes, and AFL all comes before Football down here (for most people)... and we still managed to out play them for large portions of the game.

When we get in to Asia, and the team starts playing together on a regular basis... probably under Graham Arnold... I think we'll be a force to be reckoned with...

Heh, an Aussie bashing another country in an Aussie forum. If someone else did this, it would be a red card for sure. Seriously man, marking ones country as scum is just not right. But what can I say, this is JTNY speaking, a guy from the class of 2001, with many mods friends ( a former one too I believe ), he can talk all he want and gets away with it. Never seen JTNY making dumbass comments for years now . . .

Ignorance is not the same as "lacking critical thinking skills". You're absoltely retarded if you think someone in a passionate moment who is lashing out at the source of his mood lacks critical thinking skills simply because he's lashing out in a moment of passion. It has nothing to do with "critical thinking" Carlos*ass.

And no this wouldn't be an immediate red card, this is a forum and people have the right to say what they want as long as it isn't racist (from my understanding). So exactly how is this intolerable language? Saying Uruguay is undesirable because the foreign players get spat on? If that's true why can't he extrapolate that there seems to be a lack of manners and respect? Seems logical to me.
