Probably but its not 100% conclusive that he's able to do it next season or the season after that. He's going to need time and money to assemble his own squad of players, like he did in Inter. Knowing the people in charge at Madrid, will they be patient with him and his demands?
Add to the fact that the Madrid fans will probably want their team to entertain and win at the same time, but Mourinho's aim will be winning more than anything else.
well, Mourinho is clearly on a mission to win everything first, and then settle down at a team after ... Spain is the final big league for him to win everything in ... so I wouldn't be too hasty in thinking he'll jump ship that quickly ...
Well, he's always mentioned countless of times that his aim was to win the Champions League and the domestic trophies from different countries in Europe, he's almost completed the sweep and I don't know if I'm being hasty saying he'll jump ship quickly, but his record speaks for himself.
The longest tenure he's been with a club was with us. And that was only about 3 years. I don't believe he'll ever settle down at a club as long as the likes of Sir Alex, Wenger or even as long as Ancelotti did at Milan.
I don't mean to say this the wrong way about him, but he's more on building a legacy for himself than for the clubs he's managed. But it works both ways, his accolades are growing and every club's he's been to has benefited from it. We won our first League title under him after 50 years, Inter won the CL after a very long long wait.
I've never read nor heard him mention that he'll succeed Sir Alex at Utd, but he's stated that he wants to take over the Portuguese NT one day, and I do believe that'll be his next target once he's achieved his goals at Madrid. I won't be surprised to see him lead out Portugal in the next World Cup.
Either way, I don't think Fergie will be quitting anytime soon. Even Evra mentioned that Fergie will probably "die" on the Utd bench, literally speaking.
So assuming Mourinho's waiting for that, he's in for a long wait.
he has since gone on record to say that the Supercup and the World Club Cup aren't important to him, and the real trophies are the league, the domestic cup, and of course the Champions League ...
Well, as you'd expect with Jose, but I'm sure deep down inside he's eager to win everything he could to his name. He has his priorities but if the opportunity arises he'll want every trophy to his name.
