LOLOL....Fergie plays great football thats why hes won 22 trophies Pede! They told him to eff off two years in a row when we had nothing. But look at us this year. With players like Fletcher and OShea we still won the league. Chelsea can even take the FA cup because they really need it considering how much they spent to acquire 2 leagues and 2 carling cups. I'm allowed to get carried away. We did have the piss taken out of us when we were trailing behind Arsenal and Chelsea. Arsenal cuz they went 49 games unbeaten and deservingly won the league. The attendances are apparently in decline but it still tops that of other leagues. United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool sell out almost every home game. Newcastle despite being at the bottom half sell out every game. Marketing maybe but it is the most exciting league in the world purely because of the gameplay. Not marketing. Marketing has no effect on whether the football is good or not. Every footballer in the world wants to come to England. The few that dont obviously think were they are is better. But when it comes to attacking football and goals the premiership is the best and most popular league you dummy. Go do some research. They stopped showing it here but i still try to watch it and check results. I tried watching spanish league yes they haev good players in every team. But the football is too slow and bores me to death. The atmosphere is dead. Sevilla, Barca and Real are the only teams that i can just about watch.

What you mean every year for about 3 years now. Excellent tournaments..come on man theres a reason its because there stronger teams. Liverpool knocked barca out because they played better than them and were mor effective. Barca thought Liverpool would be a walk over. But it showed Barcas defense isnt that great after all. Chelsea knocked Valencia out because theya re stronger. Utd knocked Roma out because our football is better than theres. English teams are strong despite inferior technique they are still effective.

Since when is a league defined by the quality of the top teams? We all know Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are good enough. We have 16 other sides, though, and those may not be as good as the other sides in other leagues. For those, the UEFA Cup may be a better indicator. We have Sevilla vs. Espanyol in the final there. But I wouldn't claim the Spanish league is better because of that. Nor will I claim the German league is better because they have the biggest attendance.

Marketing doesn't really mean a league is better, but may have a shout at how many people watch it. Like I mentioned before, not always the most attended match is the better one.

Oh, about all the footballers wanting to play in England... well... it's not really true. Of course they wouldn't refuse a transfer to a big club, but when they can choose between England and Spain, well... there's someone called Ronaldinho who could've gone to Man U....

fanboy lol kl watever you say man..I'll stick to watching the premiership. They stopped showing Serie A here cuz no one watches it 80,000 viewers out of 52 million people ask Bravo TV. You have to pay Setanta to watch other leagues. . Thats why we only get highlights here. The only other league they show here is Spanish football. And 90 percent of the time they show Barca or Real. People in England may watch other leagues but they have to make an effort to like streaming it. Because they dont show it on tv like other countries. In Africa you can watch every league in the world. But in England we watch our own league along with billions of other people..Ask the tv stations why they dont show it and they'll tell you its lack of interest.

Do you have numbers to back that up or is that just coming from your wild imagination? If you can produce some stats for me, I will gladly concede your point about TV, but since when does popularity=quality?

I'll give you an example: My hometown is Toronto in Canada. We have the most popular hockey team in the world, the Maple Leafs. They command the largest viewing audience, most players dream about pulling on the sweater, they have TV channels, merchandise everywhere and the largest fanbase in hockey. They haven't won a championship since 1967 and they haven't made the playoffs for two years. Quite frankly, they suck. But they are still the most popular, profitable franchise who regularly sell out and have a huge waiting list for season's tickets. Their marketing is second to none and they are preaching to the converted. Hmmmm....

So you're saying Riquleme is not good because his style didn't suit the English style? That's just it my friend, style. You like one style, and that's great. I enjoy watching the EPL, I love it. I also love watching other leagues from Europe and Latin America precisely to see different styles of football. The ability to fill stadiums is great, but also comes from the fact that in England there is a definite die-hard football tradition and obsession, so that's not that great of an example.

As to the intricacies and build-up of Spanish football, well if you find that boring, that's your taste. I find it interesting and exciting to watch, for different reasons than I find the pace and physicality of the EPL exciting to watch.

What you should avoid is making sweeping statements about this league or that league being the best, just because it has 3 or 4 or even 5 good teams who are also amongst the best at marketing. To be honest with you, from about 7th or 8th down, the French league is probably the best in Europe because the drop-off in team quality isn't so steep, so you can see a dozen teams fighting for Europe at the same time as they fight to avoid relegation. That is exciting in it's own right.

You like the EPL the best, and that's fine by me, but to declare it the best league in the world is somewhat naive and silly.

Anyway, I am not about to sit here and go on and on about it, your opinion is your own and always valid. As to the comments about pulling your head out of your arse, they are meant in good fun, just to say: Try to be more open-minded, as you might be surprised.

Anything to do with promoting the local leagues? Okay lets take Brazil out of the context and make that minus one country out of 200 world wide countries.

Marketing is a small fraction of it. People watch what they want to watch. It just happens that English football is the most watched. Great players have played in Spain and Italy its not as if it needs to be marketed at great lengths. As for Riquelme he wouldnt have hacked it here. The game will be way to fast for him.
