Does it mean like when you go into an arcade and play a game for 20 minutes, because that is like Fifa. You have to pay for 20 minutes of fun, and then you get bored, so you stop playing.

Hopefully Konami will start to expand their games a bit so that their are more teams and competitions. Then I will never have to buy Fifa ever again.

Im sure that EA advertise Fifa as the most realistic footie game or something like that.
Maybe EA should make 2 different games, one which is simulation which would make the majority happy, and one which is arcade for all the people who have never heard of football.

I think fifa world cup 2002 is an embarrassment to Football, and doesnt deserve to be called FIFA, or FOOTBALL, or even SOCCER.

This IS true, 100% percent true!! 2002 FIFA World Cup isn't football, nuff said! :p

Wow this is great. I appreciate you coming to visit these forums. I had a few questions for you as well. Does EA ever notices the evolutions and editing creations some people in the FIFA community do? Why don't they adapt some of these ideas. Mainly the bigger kit sizes and details you can find with the 2gk size images? Also there are 2gk4s with 4 sleeves 2 small and 2 large. There are also 3gk which would be the 2gk kit with a goalkeeper kit all together. It would bring more detail into an already visually beautiful game. There are many brilliant people in the fifa editing community, does EA ever pay attention and how can one acquire to work for them?

Hey, I was actually going to ask what El_gallo asked, but is seemed he beat me to it?
Have u seen any of the work of Ariel Santerelli from Soccer Access?
He has done so much to improve the game.
Anyway another question I have is, who are the star players from Australian in World Cup? If u dont know it doesnt matter, but I was just wondering who they were, and what they were stars for/at?

Also thanks for coming onto the forums, risking your job and helping us out by answering questions.
Cheers

The thing is though, EA are supposed to view forums and stuff to see what people like, if this is the case then the researchers need shooting, cos they're doing a crap job!!!

Nobody on this planet likes arcadey football, and why is it made in the US anyway, when the main football stage is European football?? I say move the fifa headquarters to Europe. They really haven't got much of a clue, "we have new airplay technology", fuk that, the ball should be on the floor not the ground. A great quote "if the ball was meant to be in the sky, there would be a pitch there" . KEEP IT ON THE FLOOR EA!!

It is quite apparent from this bloke that the americans who develop EA know Carlos **** about football and therefore should leave the responsibilty to european sides of fifa, it only makes sense. EA should be able to make a game to rival PES, it doesn't have to beat it in all aspects, look at Nike and Adidas, they are both great and ppl buy both. So please if the researchers do actually read it! Take Note get your ****in asses into gear and chuck the arcade **** in the bin, realism is the key to the 21st century and you're living in the past.

Yes, I must agree that if the game was developed by European people, then it would be much better because Football is a European sport, with much more history and people in Europe Know more about football.
I know a lot of americans and Canadians will say that they know a lot about football, but the majority dont, because they have never been to a top level match, and dont watch football often enough.
I must also agree that Wc2002 is boring, because you dont feel that their is any purpose to the play, and the shooting, dribbling, passing, goalkeeping is terrible.
I also think that the general movement of players is crap, because I noticed that they stay in their set position throughout the match, instead of getting back to defend or get forward to support the forwards.

European programming

The problem is that there are plenty of European software houses but none of them can be bothered to make a soccer game. EA make a soccer game because there's a market for it. What are all the other software companies doing? Surely they must see the amount of flaming EA gets and realize that any competition would be a good thing!

EA suck at making soccer games generally because the programmers don't take account of feedback, it's got nothing to do with them being American. Remember that no European software company makes decent soccer titles for any platform, it's the Japanese who make them and how freaking good at soccer are they? It's down to who makes the effort and given the French, Argentinian, Brazilian and Portugese national teams are the worlds strongest I don't seem many soccer titles being developed out of there. Just because a nation is good at soccer doesn't mean they'll produce a good game. I know plenty of British people who suck at soccer just as I know plenty of Americans who suck at basketball and have no clue on tactics.

Why aren't any British companies developing games anymore for soccer? Sensible Soccer and a few other titles were great for the Amiga in the early 90's and although the overhead view wasn't great at least they had pretty good gameplay. If companies can't be bothered to compete in an underfulfilled market they have nobody to blame but themselves.

I loved ISS soccer on the N64 and believe it or not, it wasn't because of the Japanese great love, history and culture of soccer but great programmers who take notice of feedback.

EA need to listen to soccer gamers from all over the world. any kid knows that 500mph headers from the half way line ripping out the back of the net ain't realiastic whether they come from Texas, London or Tokyo. EA should listen and not think they can re-invent the game of soccer. Just make it as much like real soccer as possible, that's all we ask, we're not asking them to reinvent the freaking wheel.

Quit the anti-American jibes and blaming geographical location on EA being poor at developing soccer games, it's the company's procedures which make them fall short.

Yep, ok!!!

I still think that The EA programmers dont know much about football. The reason why Konami make such great footie games is because they do loads of research. I read an article once and it said that they go to loads of games to study the way teams play and stuff. I dont think EA do this, but they should.
Yes, I agree that the EA programmers cant program really well. i also think they dont do enough research into physics (eg speed of headers).

yeap... so important as well football-known people is good programmers. maybe ea needs it.

i got confused with a point: the arcade gamestyle. on that interview someone mentioned here, ea employee said something like "fifa was always know as a funny soccer game with arcadey gameplay, but we are going to turn it to more simulation"... so isn't it true anymore? :( :mambo:

EAGuyUK, can you please give me some info about the RAV file format used in Fifa 2002 and Wc2002.
Can you tell me what RAV files are, because they are not a 3D format. Is their any way of converting them back to the 3D format that they originated as.
PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU KNOW!!!!!

BTW What games are your studio working on at the moment, and can you get me some kind of apprentiship job or something like that.

about the air play... there is an old quote here in brazil
it says "a bola deve ficar na grama, pois seu couro vem da vaca, e a vaca gosta de grama"

i don't know how to translate it right... lemme give a try... hmm

"the ball must keep on the grass, because its leather comes from the cow, and the cow likes the grass"....

There are a couple of English-British software houses who have recently released Football games, Uefa Challenge from the team from Sheffield ' Gremlin, Ex Actua Football Company' and this game is not too bad at all once that the gameplay patch is added, and is quite a good effort by that software team, who did make a huge effort to please the gamers when they made an appearence in the Uefa Challenge Forum and opened themselves up for suggestions from the players out here. The other software house is Team Soho who produced This is Football 2002, a fast paced arcade style game that has received mixed opinions in some of these Forums, but in my opinion isn't as bad as some people claim, once that you start to get the hang of it, and although both of these games are far from perfect, thay both do a good job of presenting a decent football game on the Pc and Console formats, but as Tristan pointed out, and the irony of all this is the fact that all the Platinum football is being produced in Japan, the country of martial arts and full on arcade style general games which is quite amazing when you take that into context, but then it also goes to prove that the Konami Kcet Team have spent months of hard work and intensive research into the nuts and bolts of Football and have been rewarded with accolades from every part of the World for thier brilliant Iss and Pes productions. So it can be done by the EA teams if they pay more attention to the inner workings of the game and perhaps let the game out in stages for dedicated betta testers to put it through a few gruelling yards of play testing for feedback to the main production team before a final release is allowed onto the shelves. :)

EAUK have had limited input into the game, however I'm so embarrassed by it, and annoyed as a paying EA customer, I've decided to break my NDA agreement with EA and try to answer any questions you may have.

Oh, that's just brilliant. You do realize that the consequences of breaking NDA range from termination to civil action, right? Are you aware at just how many people in management positions browse these forums? If so, then you have bigger balls than I ever did when I was at EA...

yeh, i know EA uses 3D studio for thelow poly yet highly effective models. But how does EA convert them into the RAV format is unknown.

Furthermore, games like Diablo II are able to have their cinematics exported and imported into the game easily. Can that be done with EA's games?

One more things, does EA spot for talents or workers in these forums? Because i can tell you that i have a dream, and that is to work for EA.

Goto this thread to see previews of my work thanks.

I am not sure if you really work for EA, but let's say I believe u... for now. If EA finds out who u r, I think u r in a deep sh!t.

I have some questions:
Is Uruguay gonna have their real kit, or is it gonna be ****, like in the demo?
Does at least one player from each team have a real face?
Any Club Teams?
Training mode? hopefully...
How did u become a worker for EA?

What I think about making FIFA series in Canada:
I think they take ppl who know about soccer. EA aint that stupid, to take someone who doesn't have a clue about soccer. There are many ppl in North America who like, and know about soccer.

I don't know about Canada, but in the US, people do know about international and club soccer... like me.

FIFA games suck anyways.

I doubt this guy really works for EA.

If he really does work for EA he should email me and tell me that he does so that I can verify his legitimacy on here.

If you don't see another reply from me on this topic, then it means I haven't received an email from the EAGuyUK and that he really is a fake.

No EA employee would publicly admit to breaking their NDA publicly.

this is rediculous

MY GOD!
this ticks me off. i actually tried to read everyones comments hoping this dude would answer back with something, about half way or so, it was so obvious this guy is a joke!!

just some ploy to get people to view their thread! dayum.
fockin' a pink poop eater! :crazyboy:

AH anywho. EA should have someone to answer questions though, not necessarily all of them for obvious reasons, but atleast someone to answer the general questions of all us soccer gaming fanz!

I so wish a corporate war would start between Konami and EA for the top spot of soccer (football) games. Just so EA would freak out knowing that KONAMI is determined to win over their customerz.

Of course KONAMI would have to make sure not to become another EA over time! :sighz::rolleyes:

Its all a neverending friggin' story!:monkey:

Bingo. Breaking your NDA and saying you've done so is probably the single dumbest thing you can do as an employee, especially on forums that management does watch.

Well atleast we know International Selection is in, just think. the game says pick your 23... then when Chau checked (or someone else) checked to see if it was possible to have a single Fifa Editor for 2002 and Worldcup 2002, they found in the Files that 40 players are possible or are in for each team. I think International Selection will be in the game, i also possibly think this guy is not a phony:)
