Chapter 1: The Beginning

It was a cold, brisk morning as I walked onto the training ground for the first time. I went along the line of players, giving each a friendly greeting and a hand shake, but knowing secretly that the club needed radical reform and some of these players would have to go.

I started them off with a practice match and sat down to see if I could get an idea for which players were to form the nucleus of my new team. Some players immediately stood out as very talented, such as 25 year old striker Sreto Ristic who caught my eye at once with his impressive strength and agility. I was also impressed with Bozo Durkovic and I began to feel I had a good striker base. There were, however, some players that impressed me less.

The first player out was young Cristian Fiel, who went to Unterhatching for the magnificantly cheap price of £70K. Tom Persich soon followed him out the door fetching £400K to Dusseldorf. Lutuf Dink made his way to Wolfsburg for £240K and Patrick Vogel was snapped up by Fortuna Koln at £130K. Those transfers left me with a little bit to spend.

I made the predictable transfer of Sergey Nikiforenko plus a few more. I was now feeling fairly satisfied with my squad. Our Defensive Midfield I felt was still slightly weak, but I decided to sort this out when I had a little more money.

Next came the tactic. I have many tactics that have long served me over my previous manegerial career, and I settled on my famous 'Revolutionary' tactic to begin the season with.

My final action was to send a scout off into the far away realms of Germany to let me know if there were and hidden diamonds in the sea around me. I had now finished setting up my team and felt ready to face whatever came against me....

TO BE CONTINUED....

Chapter 2: Off with a Bang

(Written after first 10 league matchs)

My team started of the season beautifully with a couple of easy wins. A 3-3 draw at the hands of Hannover 96 momentarily set me back but I crashed back to smack Babelsberg 6-1 in the next match. My cup form was no-where near as good. An unlucky German Cup match against Energie Cottbus sent me crashing out in the first round while as an equaly appaling UEFA Cup first round defeat by Kilmarnock left me solely focusing on the league.

But in the league, well that revolutionary tactic certainly was doing the trick as I managed to win eight out of my first ten games, including some big scorelines. Nikiforenko certainly was doing the trick, while impressive Ristic kicked ass from the fronk row. My team was certainly having no scoring problems, and the defence wern't too leaky.

Unfortunatly, I fell out with impressive veteran defender Emil Kremenliev and he had to go, fetching me a nice (but still less that his value) £1m. Georg Froese, also in my bad books, manged to avoid a one way ticket out of the club after accepting his two week fine. At the other end of the scale I was very impressed with the 15 goals netted up by Nikiforenko, which made *Mystery Signing #2*'s 10 look average and Ristics 7 look poor!!!!

All in all I was very impressed with my start to the season.

Chapter 3 - Keeping it up.

(Written after 25 league matchs)

My team were really starting to function together nicely. All my signings had proven their value, especially Nikiforenko who had nearly netted 30 by this time. Ristic was really performing magnificantly up front, my defence were staying solid and my team were scoring well. So far we had only lost 3 league games and had quite a nice cushion at the top of the league to work from. Everything was looking up.

My finaces left a little to be desired, with only a couple of hundered K spending money, but with the transfer deadline apon me I thought I could easily enough hold back my spending until the next batch of cash became available. The fans were pleased with me, the board was very happy and my results were looking good. However, how long would it be until the computer cracked my tactics? Only time would tell.

Chapter 4 - Up, up, up!!!

(Written after 34 league matchs - the end of the season)

As the season drew to a close I felt a variety of emotions towards my team. Although we had been knocked off our topspot and didn't have much money left we had still managed to come in second place for promotion with the board and fans delighted. We had a severe down period when the computer cracked my tactic and the one I change it for didn't work, but then I changed it again and we were back to our winning ways to come in second by three points. I was losing a lot of players on frees but these were players I didn't want so it was actually a good thing. Nikiforenko had lived up to his reputaion of CMs best player by netting a cool 34 goals, 10 assits and 12 MoMs. Ristic was also fantastic with 16 goals and 11 assists.

All in all I was very pleased with the first season - now on to the big boys!!!

Yeah I know - my tactic got cracked but luckily I had enough of a cushion to go through respectably anyway.

Chapter 5 - Playing with the big boys...

As I sat out in the pleasent warmth of the July evening my thoughts began to wander. I though back to my performance in the last season, and the upcoming challenge that first division football would present. The most worrying thing that had happed last season was how badly my team performed one the tactic had been cracked. I would need to do something about that.

Another, slightly less worrying thing was the rapidity of the decrease of my finances. I looked around my squad and it suddenly occured to me that there were a lot of players earning large wages for very little, and even better some of their contracts were nearing an end. I proptly fixed up literally masses of free transfers. Those I couldn't get to leave on Bosmans were released on frees, those who were to expensive to release on a free were sold for nothing. In the end I saw the backs of 12 players for absolutely nothing, except wage relief. Amoung those were a couple of big guns that had annoyed me, such as Durkovic and Beuckert, hopefully setting an example to the others.

As you can imagine, at this stage my squad was pretty barren. Infact I had only 16 players!!!! Luckily, TV rights had left me with a cool £9m to spend and my squad did not stay empty for long. I made several nice transfers, including the infamous CM star Mark Kerr, who to my luck had failed the medical taking him to Celtic, and a rather nice defender my scouts found called Ronald Schmidt, who proved to be an excellent find, plus a few others.

Sergey Nikiforenko's value had escelated to in excess of £8m and I decided he would form the nucleas of my season's campaign. Ristic had been very impressive the previous season and guided me well to D1, but with a new striker signed his position looked in doubt. I was also hoping to try out Popov but that was now looking very unlikely to happen. I felt my defence was solid, I had added Schmidt and a couple of DMCs which I felt would, along side the great Okeke and Menze, set me up nicely for the riggours of first division enemy attacks.

My finances were now back to the way they had been - ie bad and I had signed a lot of high wage bills so it looked unlikely I would be doing any more spending this season but I was happy with the squad I had and felt it could see me to a respectable league position.

Chapter 6 - Holding our Heads High (so far anyway)

(Written after the first 10 league matchs of my second season)

Ten matchs into the first division and my team are in a very respectable position. Not in the top three, but certainly not bad for people finding their feet. The scoring has been spread fairly evenly between my players so no-pne has a massive tally like at this stage last season but my team are scoring well and working together nicely.

My new striker signing was appalling until he netted a hatrick against HSV and since then he has been doing very well indeed. My best results included that 3-1 win over HSV, a 3-2 away win at Shalke and holding Bayern 0-0 away. My only league defeats came at the hands of Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart and Hertha BSC but I was disappointed to be knocked out of the German cup in the second round 2-1 away at M'gladbach, but cup matchs only get in the way anyway.

I was generally quite pleased and hoped my players could keep up the pace.

By the way guys the reason I am not continuing to write in this thread is because of laziness, I am still playing (and enjoying) my game. I finished 6th in the league for my second season, but I am currently in 2nd for my third season with not many matchs to go!!! CL maybe?

Sorry I'm not keeping the story going guys, I'm just too lazy at the moment.

I'm doing well though, won the German D1 two years in a row as well as picking up on German Cup and one German League cup.

Not doing to well in Europe though, I may start concentrating on that more.

I'll pick the story up again soon.

I really cannot be bothered to continue with the story, sorry :$

I have won the D1 twice, but finished a disappointing 4th last season. I have won the German Cup and the German League Cup, but no success in Europe yet.
