What´s up?
I´m a true PES-fan, I love that game and I don´t care what all FIFA-fans say...I just know...PES is best...for me ;)
Now this year after buying the onlineadapter I want to play games online. PES3 didn´t give that to me so thought.. maybe I should buy FIFA 2004 this year instead, so I did.
And maybe find something newer cuz FIFA and PES is a bit diffrent...I played FIFA years ago and didnt like them...but know I´m giving it a try again.
After been playing for a couple of hours I´m getting a hanfg off it, playing in the Career mode with The red devils.
The gameplay is pretty good, not like PES, but hey...I have only played for a short while and think I will like it the more I play...the more I get used to it.....does that sound ok?

mister m is it ur goal for fifa not to sell or what?, what is ur beef with this game, he played it, he enjoyed it, i ve played both games, fifa ,has its's up and down, so do the pes, ( and one thing that make most gamers willing to play fifa is cos of authencity, and they try to emulate their favorite players in the game. peeps are different, so dont come around and put down products , u can never create, if u dont know, i have a very strong feeling , that fifa 2004 will out sell pes3 by a very large margine, and thats gonna be a fact cos of their new implements (online, career etc)into the game, so go smoke some hay and chill out , kapisssssh

Know this would never happen, but wouldn't it be great if EA and Konami worked together, Graphics/Licence for EA and Gamplay for Konami.

Well, anywayz the gameply of fifa improved a lot from what I saw in the demo, damn can't wait for it to come out on PC

i've always prefered we/pes to the fifa series simply for the gameplay, every year i get fifa hoping for it to be great and end up taking it back, i've played the fifa 2004 demo and was impressed with the improvement over previous versions so i've rented the ps2 version today
overall i like it though i do have some little niggles such as the way the camera switches during set pieces which tends to disorientate me, the speed could do with being a little quicker but it's not far off as it is
i'm also struggling with the off the ball controls but am prepared to give it time to get used to it

overall it's a big improvement over previous versions plus it's got online play which may persuede me to but it

I don't understand why people are saying that PES's graphics are subpar. Just from watching the videos (and playing WE6 like crazy), I see PES's graphics right up there with FIFA. Is this about player models? Because FIFA 2004's player models look like hunched stubby legged monkeys. Not every soccer athlete is built with tree trunks for legs and a head that's 3X's larger than normal.

PES's player models actually look like real people, even if the faces are a bit off. The stadiums are beautiful, the grass textures rich, and it actually has weather effects. Granted, the old ISS games were pretty pathetic from a graphical point of view, but not anymore. Let's be real when we talk about things. The graphical edge FIFA owned is a thing of the past, and simply a case of a bad reputation. Now, atmoshpere and commentary? Yes, FIFA's got that edge. That and licenses. Of course, when PES4 has all the teams licensed, then what will people say?

Honestly, I don't get it. The level of tactical depth alone in the PES/WE series is enough to blow away FIFA. But I guess casual players don't care about tactics, situational substitutions, etc. Only about whether the kits are correct. To me, FIFA plays like most EA games. Once you figure out the few "money" plays, you can score every time. It doesn't matter whether or not those plays would be realistic, or would necessitate you playing the respective sport realistically as it was meant to be played. In WE, the more you play the game the way football was meant to be played (build up play, implementing proper tactics, using balance in your attack) the better the results, especially on the higher difficulty levels.

But I know how you all feel. I used to play games that way, too. I played until I could figure out how to score consistenly (FIFA, NBA Live, Madden) and then I was set. Or, rather, I was bored, because I felt I had mastered the game. WE is so hard to master because there is no such easy formula. You must think to win, and play smart. Each game is totally different and presents different challenges. Easy to learn, damn hard to master...

It's ok...

It's okay really to enjoy both PES and FIFA. What's wrong with that? That's the point of games anyway: to enjoy yourself.

Although, playing offline I know which game is wayyy better!;)

Yes, theCro, he was too quick for me; I was about to write pretty much the same :D
I like to add to his post that player attributes at PES do really matter! You play much better with the right players at the right position.
About the graphics I like to add that it is a matter of which colors you like. FIFA uses very bright colors and PES uses pastel colors, if you don't like that, you say FIFA's colors are better.
Also, the player-animations from PES are superb and fit exactly to the attributes of the player in question.
For example, did you see the difference how Owen moves and Heskey in the PES-demo? That's what I mean :)
