Sissoko is horrendous and Koulibaly is the real deal. If you get him and Kante with Conte you're in the title race. If you add a left back, you're winning.

Conte has confirmed that cuadradro will return to the squad for the upcoming season. I guess this implies that any (always unlikely) negotiations for bonucci have failed. I'm pleased about this - I was concerned about his abilities to play in England after his poor first season but he was constrained, conte knows about him and likes him, and it seems like a great way of getting much needed new (and untarnished by last seasons failure) blood into the squad without financial outlay. Now I hope we do the same with van Ginkel.

Of course, but he is closer to the goal by 50 metres compared to the goalkeeper. It is always a plus to have midfielders to score goals because forwards cannot score in all games.

1 goal in 247 games is 0.4 % which is negligible. Close to 0 goals. He is not responsible to score goals but it is strange for a non-GK player to have scored just 1 goal in 10 seasons.

What are you arguing? He did not score goals, he was not expected to score goals. End of. You don't criticise someone for not doing something that they're not expected to do.

When did I criticize him? It was just a comment. I said nothing against him.

Mikel V/s Schmeichel is just a comparison. I am not saying this makes him a bad player.

Mikel has consistently failed to lock down a place in the Chelsea starting eleven and make that DM spot his own despite so, so many opportunities to do so - he is not without qualities but we are a team that needs to be constantly upgrading our quality threshold and by those standards he needs to be moved on.

Loftus-Cheek is shite in that constrained position though - for a long time that was the only place I saw him play and I couldn't understand the hype around him (I assumed we were just so desperate to have an academy product work out that we were all lying to ourselves) but then hiddinck moved him further up the pitch and he was much better and I discovered that that had previously been his preferred position. If we try to use him as simply DM cover he will drift into obscurity.

But there is just no point using wages and a squad space on Mikel, really, every time he comes on it's just frustrating. Like I said if we want to get anywhere we need to be upgrading constantly and that goes for our squad players too. If Mandieta6 was in charge we would never sell anyone. A willingness to 'settle for what we have' contributed to last seasons collapse.
