This has probably been covered a thousand times before, but I'm getting really wound up by it.
I just got a new pc - Athlon64 3200, 1GBRAM, GeForce6600, and PES5 plays like a DOG on it! I'm getting 20fps in high detail, but if I drop it down to medium then the game is smooth at 60fps. Strangely, this is true regardless of the resolution - it's still jerky and ~20fps even at 640x480! I've tried locking frame rates, turning vsync on and off and everything else, but no luck - only dropping to medium detail has any effect at all!
I probably wouldn't mind this and would be happy with medium detail except on my old machine (P4 1.7, 256MBRAM, GeForce4Ti4600) the demo of PES5 played like silk - absolutely smooth at 1280x1024 at high detail. The demo shows the same weird problem as the full game on the new pc, by the way.
What's happened? Have konami just not bothered to optimise their game for high(er) end machines? Am I just unlucky? It's really bugging me - more than it probably should, actually, but I just want it to look it's best! Any ideas??
