Please help with FIFA 2002 WC

Hi guys,

I just got the FIFA 2002 World Cup game today and after installing it and trying to launch the the game, I got the following "error":
"2002 FIFA World Cup is not installed correctly. Please reinstall.

The game IS properly installed and I think the obvious reason for the game not working, is that my displaycard (or any other card for that matter) isn't showed in the 3D setup. Could someone please help me with this problem?
I'm using Windows 2000 with SP2 and a GF2 Ultra card with 27.42 detonators (also tried 23.11 drivers to cure the problem, but no luck).

The Main reason why you cant play your Fifa World Cup 2002 could be because you are using Windows 2000 which the game might not support as in most cases of EA sports FIFA series.
It functions on a different engine therefore you are unable to play in the game despite installing a couple of times and trying with different display cards

Thanks for the reply, but how can it be that the game wouldn't support Win2k like you said, because it states at the back of the case that it supports Win95b/98/2000/Me/XP.

Actually I now remember that I installed FIFA 2002 a couple of months back and the game gave me the same thing, but I had played the game without problems earlier with the same system using Win2k.. So, there must be a way to get the game to work, don't you think?

Well Sorry for the late reply as you know that Win2K is usually not been suported for most games as we have seen in earlier series of FIFA but with the introduction of the Win XP which runs on a similiar system as the Win2K , there might be some implications as such as as we know it's microsoft to have no problems with the systems would be very unbecoming of Microsoft dun you agree :P
I guess the only thing you can do is to feedback to Ea Sports about this problem and see if they can help you btw which part of the world are you from?I'm really upset as when i purchase my FIFA2002 , i wanted to register with the technical support but my country is which is singapore is not being offered for the support and i'm so pissed as i spent money buying the originals as i was unable to wait for the pirated copies ...this is what i got in return!!!!
*sigh* Ea should better look into this as there are many users in singapore ....lose the business to Konami then i will luff till i drop...seeya around

Apparently something is seriously wrong with the software!!!

This time i really have no answer to this sad reality....

I'll be purchasing my copy this weekend or maybe even tommorrow but with comments like yours i'm having second tots about buying my copy now...

Dun't know if this work or not,,,try to browse the cd folder,,,copy the crack file..then paste it in your game's main folder...overwrite the file...daz should work,,,

video card may not be supported

I finally found what may be the problem w/ me. My (old) video card, Intel i740 is explicitly not supported by the game. So I think that is the problem...

I hope you fixed it soon then you can enjoy the game by the way your copy of the WC2002 is it original or pirated version?

Yep, I actually have mailed EA already about this issue, so let's hope they can come up with some kind of (solving ) answer. I'm located in Finland and I'm really sorry for you that you can't have technical support

Well, it's good (isn't it?) that you got your problem solved and I know my problem also is caused from the graphics, because like I said, when I go into the 3D Setup there's nothing in it, no displaycards and no resolutions.
I also tried applying a nocd crack for the game (bought the game from store, I'm no warez
guy) and that way I could get into the game menus (missed the intro and menumusic though) and when I started a new game, the game started loading and then finally crashed to desktop.. So it must definately be graphics related.
I also uninstalled DirectX 8.1 and replaced it with 8.0a, with no luck. Have to try something else I guess...

Btw, what OS are you using Bacina? You don't really have to fear buying the game as it's not entirely the game's fault, it's mainly
causing from the system and what you have installed to it etc.
As I mentioned earlier (I'm starting to repeat myself aren't I ? ) the regular FIFA 2002 worked on my machine well before and now it gives the same error message...

I'm using WinME which i think is not as stable as some claim to be hoping to be able to get Win XP soon ...

I guess i will go get my copy of WC2002 even if it means burning a hole in my pocket by setting me back by 30 bucks.. using voucher of $30 from HMV . ...

Somehow i'm still pissed that there is no technical support in my country!!!!

Well did you view the WE6 mpg clip it looks simply stunning out of this world indeed..think of getting PS 2...

Well Mulder you propably hadn't noticed, but in one of my previous posts I did mention that I tried a nocd crack but it didn't help me.

Anyways I just read the game's readme file just a minute ago and it said that Windows 2000 users have to add 3D=dx8z to the end of the command line, e.g. like this: "CGames\EA SPORTS\2002 FIFA World Cup\fifawc.exe" 3D=dx8z
So I did what it said and launhed the game.
Well, well it worked and the game started and I'm happy about that.
After trying the game it looked kinda horrible, as I still can't use 3D Setup and go change the resolution, but instead I went and enabled 4x antialiasing which is like playing on a 1024x768 resolution, if I'm not totally wrong
So now the game looks good and works Thanks to all of you guys for helping me out!

not working.. still

Well I went to bought the ATI Radeon 7000 card and now the game runs but in the middle of it (95% of the time) it crashes!!!! Help!

Called EA tech support and they told me to tinker w/ some sound and video settings but the game (and my computer) still freezes. This really sucks!

i had the same problem"fifa 2002 not installed correctly" and im usin it under win XP....ihad it fixed by changing the game resolution at tha 3d card setup..... try it!!!

got another new vid card.. it works now

Exchanged the Radeon for GeForce 2 MX 400. The game now works w/o crashing...
