PlayStation 3

I dunno, been looking for that info too..

although if it's gonna be like the current WE that just came out I'd rather they take their time and produce something decent. I think when a true NEXT-GEN pes/we is released it'll definitely be on the PS3 (I'm assuming anyways)

WE/PES will be released later this year on PS3. Although, the graphics on the PS2 version are currently just as good as the 360's. Not because of the 360, but because of Konami wanting to make money with a rushed 360 version. Hopefully the PS3 version will have better graphics. I won't hold my breath, though.

On a side note. I downloaded Tekken: Dark Resurrection yesterday from the PSN store. It's basically a downloadable PS2 game with 1080p resolution support. The improved resolution does wonders for the already impressive PS2 graphics. It also helps that the gameplay has been tweaked to perfection, IMO.

The arcade mode has decent replay value. You earn points for every win, which can be used to unlock character endings and other cool stuff. Plus each character is individually ranked based on how you play with them. The only downer is no online play. Thankfully, the arcade mode's point system and character costume upgrades keep it interesting.

I've only played it one night so far, but I'm really liking it. It's definately worth it's $19.99 price.

Nuno, does the PS Online Store have their PSone games to sell ? I heard some rumors telling about PSone games are available to be downloaded ??

I'm looking forward to see the news from some sites about the speculation of European gamers for the upcoming & launching their PS3 on this March.

It can be a massive ones.

About 15-20 PSone classics are currently available for download on the PS store. For the time being you can only enjoy them on your PSP. However, with the March update, you will be able to play them on the PS3.

Phil Harrison will be giving a big speech this week with some huge announcements. From what I've been reading on the PS forums, PS3 owners are going to be extremely happy.

BTW Did I mention how awesome Tekken 5 Dark Ressurection is? I'm still amazed that I downloaded a full 1080p PS2(PS3 exclusive) game to my harddrive.

Have you guys heard about "Home" and "Little Big Planet?" Do yourselves a favor and goto IGN.com and read about both.

Home has so many things to offer it's best you guys see the video to fully appreciate it. My words wouldn't do it justice. Plus it's free for all PS3 owners. Also note the Pixar like graphics of Little Big Planet.

For those of you curious about Killzone. Sony unveiled it to handful of media behind closed doors. It'll officially be revealed to everyone at E3 this July.

wow, the graphics/animation on Little Big Planet are just unreal!

EDIT: btw, Nuno, has there been any news yet about a PS3 software update that will upconvert PS2 games?

So far only rumors. Personally, PS2 games look fine on the PS3. I've been playing FFXII and it looks fine. God of War looked great too. I can't wait for God of War 2 next week. The week after that Oblivion comes out.

Anyway, head over to http://www.gamevideos.com/video/id/9860 for the GDC video of Little Big Planet. In the video the developers demo the game for the audience and it looks like it could be alot of fun. It's really getting me excited.

Finally watched the entire Little Big Planet, it's fantastic, i'm amazingly impressed.

That is user-generated-content at its very best, i do a lot about it in media, and to see a computer game which seems to be totally adopting the idea of "viral video" is brilliant. What an intelligent idea for a game, that, for me, is the platformer of the next-generation.

Excellent idea, excellently executed, brilliant.

I have both a Xbox 360 and a PS3 and if I'm truthful, at the moment, the 360 is superior to the PS3 due to the large catalogue of games and the killer exclusive titles (Bioshock, Halo 3, GoW etc.) it has, as well as the superb Live online service but I believe in the long term, the PS3 will prove to be the better choice.

At the moment there are very few decent games out for the PS3 (GRAW2, RSV6, Resistance: Fall of Man being some of the notable exceptions), certainly no killer exclusive titles that would persuade you to buy one, however, in the next couple of months and in the run up to Christmas expect to see the number of titles increase (I'm looking forward to Call of Duty 4, Gran Turismo: Prologue and Haze). It won't be till 2008 before I feel the PS3 comes into its own, as it'll get the killer exclusive titles it deserves (Killzone 2, Gran Turismo 5, LocoRoco, Tekken 6, Final Fantasy XIII, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet to name but a few).

Sony's equivalent to Xbox Live, the Playstation Network (PSN) when compared to Live in terms of content (full games, extra game content etc.) is quite frankly lacklustre with the exception of Gran Turismo HD Concept but Sony appear to be slowly trying to change this by updating the PSN store every week with new demos and full games (Warhawk, an online multiplayer was released for £19.99 last week).

Another thing to consider is that the Xbox 360 is first and foremost a games consoles with some media features, whilst the PS3 is a true digital media hub with its wifi and bluetooth capability 'straight out the box', and built in Blu-Ray player. You can also browse the web and even use a USB keyboard and mouse if you so desire (eventually you'll be able to use blutetooth keyboards and mice). Another bonus is that the hard disk is easily upgradeable to whatever size storage you want, as it's a standard 2.5" drive, so you'll never run out of room for videos/songs/downloaded games etc. Sony's plan to release a digital tuner for the PS3 in 2008, will also mean that you'll be able watch/record TV programmes using the console in the future. The fact that Sony have placed an emphasis on the console being a media hub for the home, is why I feel that it's a better choice in the long term, as the console's features mean that its longevity will be greater than the Xbox 360.

I do agree that the price of the PS3 puts off casual gamers, however, if you think about it, it's not much more than a Xbox 360 Premium with the wireless adapter and (noisy) HD-DVD drive.

That's the million dollar question, everyone wants to know the answer to :amika:

I expect the price of the console on its own to be cut by some retailers to around £300 (Elite territory) between now and Christmas, as you can pick up the console for £325 from places like Shopto.net at the moment, although the vast majority are still charging £399 . I personally don't expect any official Sony price cuts till Q1 2008, as they only recently made a price cut in the US with Europe getting a bundle of 2 games (one being Motorstorm) and an extra six-axis for £425 instead. I still don't understand Sony's thinking behind this :kader:...a price cut would've attracted more casual gamers, plus most retailers are offering better bundles (with better/more games) for the same price or even less already

Filipower

Bunburyist
yeah those are my thoughts exactly, what's up with that bundle?i can understand the second six-axis, but they should stick to that and take the price down a notch...i mean they practically have to reduce prices for Christmas or else they're struggle like hell against the 360..

haha, i love the "infinitely more exciting than anything on other consoles" part. marketing (Y)
