PES6 pc Opinions

Couple of more matches. Turned down difficulty to 'experienced' which is 3 on the old scale, still haven't been able to score. bloody challenging. don't know whether it's because i haven't played for a while or because it's really hard.

i think this will appeal to the hardcore fans. passing and positioning has become much more intricate. you really need to time and point your passes well, otherwise they will not arrive at their target. in PES5 you pressed X and most of the times this would be fine. not so here (at least in my impression). the CPUs attacking seems much more varied too. in 5 they used to play field-spanning through passes for the most part, here they really build up their attack. CPU play is still a bit on the immaculate side for my taste. barely any mis-timed passing or anything that doesn't arrive where it should. of course, most deflections end up with the CPU. also the CPU players are damn fine dribblers. sometimes it seems the ball is glued to their feet. it's still very difficult to dispossess them. they also tend to pack their box like they did in previous versions and they constantly seem to have an advantage in midfield (but that might be due to my formation). heading as difficult as before. freekicks same crap. keepers i haven't seen doing any stupid things yet, but unfortunately i conceded already two goals of the deflection/ tap-in kind (which was more or less every goal i conceded in PES5). through passes much more effective and powerful in my impression.

one thing that seems to FINALLY have gone is the magic CPU speed advantage. i think that's much due to the wingers making more intelligent runs and use of space. speed-wise i cannot confirm that it is considerably slower than PES5. i'd say the same, but that's subjective. graphics are the same. cannot see any improvement. that thing with the ugly spectator-texture is really a joke, though.

interface is a bit a mix of new elements and old ****e. there are many new additions to make it easier for the casual gamer (such as me), like auto-substitutes and such. the intro movie is nice (some samba pop and some quite cool graphics).

i like it so far. it feels like it has all the good things from PES5 and took out the bad ones. but i really need to score now :)

Sound like PES5 was at first. You couldn't score. But I supose you get your way sooner or later.

But what about Master League? Is it the same or is there something new? What about the divisions?

ML is basically the same old crapola. same divisions (except german teams of course), same players (ivarov, jaric, dodo etc).

you can select how difficult the transfer conditions are upfront (i think that was in PES5, no?) and really neat is the fact that you can bring your build team online and play with it. other than that, same thing. it really could need some workover.

This question is for the people who have PES6 on their PC's with ATI cards. I just read on another forum that there might be problems playing the game like strange stuttering and not smooth on an ATI card. Is this the case? Anyone playing the game with ATI card having issues like this or is it smooth for you?

Like i said further above, runs quite fine on my radeon x800 at 1280 resolution. occassionally the screen seems to 'swim' a little but it's barely noticeable

One more thing: i tried to register on line and it said the my code already existed??? I mean anyone with the same problem?

.

Thank you sooooo much for mentioning that, as I had the same & started to sweat!! I thought 1 ot guys from the shop I got it from had taken it already, but it's probably due to the fact that the servers are down 'till tomorrow (official release date). I guess we both have nothing to worry about!

Simak - thanks for your very informative review and opinion, that's very kind and helpful to those of us that don't have the game yet. I'm currently waiting for my father to get back in town (tomorrow) with the game. can't wait.

thanks again and take care.

My opinion:

I think PES5 runs smoother.. Let's put it this way.... It feels like it's becoming fifa gameplay. Slower, not in touch/feeling with ball speed. (don't know how else to put it). It's like the CPU decides how the passing is done.

Terrible control over team mates. :kader: .. i've had a few goals against me already where a few of my players couldn't deside who would kick the ball out of the box.

I will give it a chance because in the beginning i had no good words for PES5 and ended up loving it (and i spent 40€ on it).

yeah, how is master league? better? worse? the same? :)

U can customise the master league this time. At the beginning u are asked whether u want or not player tp develop, how much easy the transfer is gonna be, fatigue leve, and whether u want to play with ur master league team on line (not sure how it works yet).

Also the formation setting have changed and there are some new options but some disappeared. A bit confusing I must say.

I am curious about on line tournament, it can be the key feature of the year. I am tired of playing single games.

Scripted physics, endless cpu cheats, completely biased refs, gameplay against cpu quickly becomes irritating, very reminiscent of PES5. In fact, there are no new features since PES5. It is PES5 but in an ever so slightly different colour.

Same old gash.

Sad end to the series on PS2.

RIP.

Hope you kept the receipt then. I'm sure you could give it to someone who wanted it.

One thing I do like is the shooting is a lot harder, in terms of you have to really place the shot and understand the dynamics of where you want it to go. I think in the past, the hit and hope shooting of before has been eradicated somewhat.

It also requires a lot more intuition in terms of building up the attack etc. I think this is good, because it was too easier for bad players to pick good teams and play **** and win, by running straight through the defence.

It feels kinda different too as with all versions of the game - sort of like that new car fresh smell.

Mmmmm. Nice.

Ah well, everyone was pretty negative about pes5 in the beginning and well so was I. It did end up to be the best football game ever so I expect the same from pes6. Im gonna buy it as soon as possible.

It's funny how every year there are totally contradicting reports. the game runs much too fast for my taste. There is frantic passing all the time and the time you are able to hold the ball with a player before being jumped at by two, sometimes 3 CPU opps is even shorter. I personally don't like Konami's emphasis on passing and pressing. At least in your own half and playing against a rather defensive team like, say, Milan you should be able to control the ball without being harrassed by oponent players all the time.

I am also a bit irritated as to the game seeming to run at ONE speed (fast) all through out. in PES5, which i didn't like that much, i had the feeling i could control the pace a bit more, at least. here it's back to the CPU playin constant attacking footy (no matter which team) minute 1 to 90.

Some will like that, of course, because it's challenging. you constantly have to make split-second decisions, plus, since the passing has become more difficult, you are prone to be fought down in midfield. Others will have a totally different impression of the game (too slow, too lackluster). this is the weird thing about PES. so subjective. so pleas take what I say as only an opinion.

samualbarros was very negative, but it's true that the game-bending scripts are still in there (i am sure they'll stick out the longer i play)

overall, like i said, i like it. but it's too close too PES5 in many aspects and that's why it's a bit of a let-down. this is what PES5 should have been and now we should have something more fresh. but if you didn't have many issues with PES5 you will love this.
