PES4: why are my centre backs are so crap?

when playing, they always fall asleep on through passes, and they always fail to clear some passes, they try to chest em, or the go pinball, and the computer uses this in favor, also, they take a long time to chest the ball when the cpu is near, just so that the cpu can take the ball away from you



needed to vent out my frustrations after some matches....damn cheating cpu

it just sucks to press 3 times the shoot button and the centrebacks never clear it until the cpu has taken it

totally know what u mean dude- they have i think completely messed up the defence system in this edition- i mean for some reason the attackers can alws outsmart the defenders with brilliant runs without ever being picked up- they just lose defenders too easy so not v realistic

defenders r alws out of position no matter what u do- so defence is alws open and vulnerable- also cos through balls this time have been made ridic easy just need to time right and bang one on one- the cpu does all the work for you really- the run, the pass...
at least in pes 3 u felt like u were really in control of all ur players- and u cld really dominate the game- now the game favours shot players cos all they do is tap the theough ball button...

and that ping ball is so annoying- really favours attackers
i mean seriously inreal life defenders do not get caught 10 times a half

I noticed this also . it's like my defenders are watching some girl strip in the stands. I've had to really re-adjust my team tactics to go around this or maybe this how it should be. i mean i used to used only 2 different tactics in we7 and i always managed to get good results. Now i find myself re-adjusting alignment and team tacitcs to get a decent performance out of my team.

my defenders are doing their job properly most of the time (and i'm playin liverpool, with speedys henchoz and hyypia). it's a new game, new conditions. same stuff won't work, that would be boring. just adjust ur game guys!

i noticed this too, especially on higher difficulty levels. It seems the higher the difficulty level, the dumber your backs.

The only real hard games I have had were in the CL in Master League.......Now those games were so goddam hard.........

Still won the CL in PK's with the gunners

Before u start whining or screaming about bad defenders and easy through balls...i was playing the game (demo) and suddenly remember that the little kid that invented pro evo had said in an interview that the offside would be very usefull in PES 4...i have noticed that when there is no pressure on midfielders they tend to get awya with a perfect through ball...so the suggestion (only for whiners and nOObs) is to put pressure on the through ballers and learn to play with offside...this is the real deal not plasticEA

I noticed a few comments about hitting the shoot or in the case of a defender the clearance button and it not working right away, I must say I agree with that, it was the same in PES3.

And it is still there in PES4, more time that I care to count , Iv had a player just outside the D and a defender head a clearance out to me and as the ball dropped or ran to me Id move forward a press shoot! nothing Id have to give hit the button again.

there is a lag at times when running onto a ball to strike or one dropping to you..

I've scored some great goals yet the only replays I've saved are the horrible fouls the computer can do and get away with it. I thought this was a football game but it seems that it's more like rugby. In addition to the crappy AI (only with my team mates of course since the cpu's players are GODS) the referee ruins this game. I truely hope that Konami makes a patch to correct this problem. I previously said that this is the best soccer game I've ever played but with these two ridiculously pathetic ways of making the game harder I'm not sure anymore. And this is just the five star level. Makes me think what it's like with six stars. I probably wont even find out. And the curious point is that a good friend of mine has this in PS2 and the referee works quite fine in that. Why did they **** up the ref for the PC version.

Well atleast this ain't like FIFA which isn't a soccer game at all. It's a soccer demo since you can't control the players a single bit.

Maybe the Konami guys should actually let someone test the ******* game before starting to make money with it.

buy Pique from man poo I never concede a goal with him at the back, anything that comes towards the defence just clear straight away, also i use a very effective Offside trap.

The reactions are sometimes slower than PES3, when being clear at goal sometimes pressing shoot button 3 times and he still doesn't shoot or dribble or whatever the order is. And sometimes it feels the pitch is of ice, the players are gliding like they are on rollerblades.

Offside trap is the way to go. I've been using it successfully since PES3 and I always used to frustrate my mates when they play against me.
I understand that some people don't like using it so if that's the case try defending deeper and pack the midfield to block passes.

Im not gonna waste my time reading that post moron...why dont u play PES 4 u will realize that this is the best soccergame out there...so keep the whining within ur little room...

When I defend I not always choos the nearest defender to the ball but I concentrate on the players that are trying to make a run.. Moving my player between the runner and the passer. Works very well for me...

I haven't tried the offside trap yet, Do you guys activate this manually or do you let your team play offsidetrap continuaslly?
