WOW, LMAO, this review is horrible IMO.
These guys seriously expect each game every year to be RADICALLY different. While I agree there aren't any new features in PES2008, you can't tell me that the guys who made FIFA08 have been hard at work for the past year also. FIFA08 is just FIFA07 with a bunch of improvements.
And these guys hate the realistic improvements in gameplay? They hate the fact that GK's funble the ball? Well, that happens in real life! They hate the fake diving? Well hey, it happens in real life! I get the feeling these losers never fully watched a game of football!
PES still has few liscences? LMAO!! I can't believe they still cry about this. The edit mode can change all that! The edit mode is so large, you can change practically anything! You can even scan kits no matter if the game is console or PC! LOL, someone should tell these guys about edit mode, because they seem horrified at the fact that ManUtd is called ManRed! LMAO!
And why do they say the presentation is very bad? I think the menus look awesome, very sleek and modern.

Mate, I agree with you that the online probably sucks, but I disagree on the other two points. There have been new added features, how can you say there haven't?? face importer, kit importer, shirt pulling, fake diving, new GK controls, new sounds, etc.

FIFA08 gets real boring reali fast. However the nice somewhat new gameplay of PES2008 provides a lot of variation which will keep you hooked on the game until the next version comes...

I just found out that they gave the PS3 version of the game an even lower score of 6.0!.

Fifa improved a little. PES improved, but less than FIFA.
You guys judge reviews too much, just play both games and make your own review of them, and choose which one to play during the year.

as I only play online or against human oponnents, I can say only this

PES football has become mixure of absulutely unacceptable AI mistakes, stupid keepers, and totaly unreal pshysics makin star players running into your players and going forward...dont wanna even mention small pitch in PES series for years now
In Pes6 and Pes2008 average player can easily beat very good players only cause it has better team (Barca, Real etc) than some average teams (Porto, Ajax etc...)
PES has become game with no skills needed and with no soul...just press turbo and run all the way with fast players, coast to coast practically...play PES2008 or PES6 online, than watch bloody TV and see real match...total archadis rubbish
FIFA08 on the other hand gave me whole new dimension...I dont wanna say a thing about FIFA any more, just wanna tell You all...dont be a fanboy, try it...give it a 30-50 matches chance, and then resolve with yourself what is soccer simulation
just to say, FIFA bringed me back a faith in good soccer game, an enjoyment in scoring goal who I lost with PES6 and 2008...FIFA08 is the closest to a kings of Soccer Simulations, KING PRO EVO 5.All other are preety much worthless in terms of simulation, can be fun though but no near the real thing

1. grass textures are horrible!
on some grass you can see repeating pattern forming(for repeating textures)
and what's that funky grass thing they are trying to do on cut-scenes?
2. they should have added some shadows to uniforms rather than relying on nomal maps to create shadows. Guys look plastic when viewed from wide cam
3. some lighting on players are horrible, guys look glowing? when they are behind sun.
4. stadiums looks like they were done by High School kids! no contrast, shadow, .....poor textures
5. fast running animations are comical...
Players head during Cut-Scenes are very cool...but dang.
I know no Artist want to work on Sports games and looks like Konami got bunch of new junior Artists working their Soccer game.

Buddy, I'm not a fanboy. I play PES AND FIFA. That's why I edit FIFA. I have really been let down by EA for FIFA08 for PC, and I'm sure other PC gamers have also.
That's why I like PES2008. it's a welcome breath of fresh air from FIFA08.

I bought the game but it's a total letdown. Bugged , Laggy poor presentation, same online music AGAIN!!!, Online options are appalling (matchrooms anyone. no chat). complete rubbish. And i never thought i'd say that about Pro Evo. Fifi also sucks big time as well.
Have a look on ebay. My copy is up for sale on there.

In defense for Konami.
Sports game teams just don't have enough man power to create Next Gen title from scratch.(because Sports game teams are use to updating their games, they can't just hire bunch of people for 1st version and fire them all after that)
I think that's why all of next gen sports title ratings were around 7.....

Mah, I personally love this game and I can't wait until the full version comes! I think Konami have yet to truly understand the power of next-gen consoles, because they had certain restrictions EA didn't. I think next year will be even better!
btw, is there any difference between the North American version of the game and the European version of it? For PC?

What they IMPROVED The most for me is the COMMENTARY!!!!!! Peter Brackley made the game DULL and boring. Now with John Champion scoring a goal is very very very exciting. Now if only they add more leagues to the game next year we will all be happy. I think they need at least 10 leagues in the game to have a good Master League mode even if it is made up teams we can always edit everything.

It is awful, the goalkeeper makes stupid saves, it is too damn slow and boring, the graphics are overrated, the faces of many players are not even close.
pes 2008 is much better but gamespot reviewer thinks differently I assume.

Yes, I agree with you mate. Except I did not have to actually play the game to come at the same conclusions as you. A few screenshots is all it took for me.
I'm not a PES fanboy or anything. I like both games but I find PES MUCH MUCH more enjoyable than FIFA because of all the new features. I think all the new features really enhances the gameplay and whenever I play I just fnd the game amazingly real.
However the guy in the review pretty much hated all the updates. He hated that GK's aren't perfect anymore, he hated the diving, blah blah blah. Well, someone should tell him that REAL LIFE FOOTBALL has no perfect GK's and fake diving happens quite often for example. For the guy to hate that means he's never watched a true life football match, and I guess he just loves the unrealistic feel of FIFA. Good for him.
He has to be an idiot if he likes a game where the players run like snails in tar. But everyone has their opinions.
P.S. and don't even get me started about FIFA faces. Now these PES faces are the real deal man! I was playing the demo once, and my parents walked in and asked me where I was getting a live feed of Brazil vs. Argentina, LOL. They said everything looked so real...

And I think the player model and graphics is soooo much better than the FIFA ones. In FIFA08, the players look like they're dressed in rags and they run like apes.
