Hey, my PC:

cpu amd 3800+ socket 939
ram 2gb pc3200
ati 1600pro 256mb

wondering if I can deal with pes 2008?

You'll both be fine. Remember that those specs listed were just recommended not the minimum. But you both should be able to run pes2008 on good settings.

Useful Refs (No Pun Intended)

I think the bottom line with the graphics cards is that, even if you have one of the lower end spec cards without Pixelshader 3, you'll still be able to run the game if the card is on the list - only sans all of the new textured effects.

Tom's Hardware is the best ref I've found for this...

For people querying the relative capabilities of their CPUs and graphics cards, you can compare your hardware with the Konami requirements from the following links...

That's also my concern, playing with a chipset not on the list (X1700)
ATI - Radeon x1600, x1800,...
I play PES6 with the higest settings, but today i got worried when i guy wrote he couldn't play some game (can't remember which was) because is GPU was not supported.

do u really think theres a major hardware difference between 1600 and 1700? :)

I know there's no major difference; i'm not concerned about the performance. But there's always the change it won't recognize it or simply doesn't "allow" to play chiptsets not listed, even if they can handle the game.

Hey guys, first of all, thanks for all your help, regarding if my 4 year old PC can run PES 2008. (If you forgot my case, go to page 3...)

Anyway, I got from you guys some mixed opinions, some of you said I might run it, others said I had no chance. However, it seems as though you all agree that the specs of PES2008 shouldn't be all that different from WE2007 or PES6. So, you guys told me to dwonload the PES6 demo and see how my PC handles it...

I downloaded it yesterday and I can say it works like a charm. There is no lag at all, and although I haven't checked, it seemed that it ran on the highest graphic settings. So, if WE6 worked very well on my PC, will do you think PES2008 will also run smooth?

Please give me your opinions, I really appreciate them and they do help a lot! Thanks!!

If your card wasn't in the list I wouldn't worry one iota about it unless you have the geforce mx, lmho, the geforce 3 and radeon 8500 are in the list but no mention of the geforce 8800 range or the radeon 2900's that I could see, lmho, does it mean it won't run on them ...

If you can run pes6 decent on a low spec pc then you should be able to run pes '08 roughly the same, unless the next-gen gameplay requires more cpu grunt that your slow cpu can't handle (6)

But hey, let's hope we will get a demo shortly and ease some of the nerves that people are having that it won't run on their primitive pc. :bouncy: :amika:

System Requirements Update: Demo

I've just finished my first hour on the demo, and as someone running an old wooden computer with just the one pony, I have to say, it's looking like good news so far.

My Radeon 9600 Pro falls at the High Detail setting - presumably because I don't have Pix Shader 3 - but in all other respects, it copes fine. I don't have all the Knobs On detail and the colours are 'coloured in' looking rather than 'textured' but as far as the rendering goes, it runs smoothly and clearly with no stuttering.

So - Athlon 2600+ and 768MB of RAM copes OK - and with a Pix3 vid card, I'm sure I'd be absolutely fine.

Why is this good? Because, on exactly the same system, the demos for FIFA 2004-2006 looked absolutely ****e - Epilepsy Cam, if you like.

It's early days yet, but my guess is that this is going to thrash the pants off FIFA - up to and including 2010.

It runs smoothly but stutters a lil bit on closeups, though I'm having thoughts about upgrading my system. :)

Radeon 9600 Pro To Go

I can't manage a YouTube vid - hey, at this time of night I can barely stand up - but a screenie, I can do.

Apologies for the Watching Paint Dry factor - but I wanted to pick out the relative lack of detail on the kit, pitch & stadium compared to other screenies. This was a 1024 x 720 window - and the jpeg has been shrunk by 40% to squeeze it through Soccer Gaming's uploaded file criteria.

As I said earlier - it isn't at all bad, and it doesn't stutter.
