PC? Xbox?

I quit dithering and got the Xbox. I am using an EDTV plasma as my monitor. Also bought the hidef AV kit. Haven't found a copy of FIFA '04 at a price I'm willing to pay (in light of FIFA '05 and PES 4 coming soon) so I can't say that I'm totally convinced yet. But, what I do see from other games is very, very impressive. If EA will be making the new game 480p capable it should look pretty good; hopefully enough to make me forget the PC for awhile.

Trebor, you reminded me that I could deduct some of the expense of a PC upgrade. Afterall, my job requires the use of PC's. I could still do it by the year's end. I just won't have to worry about whether I'd be able to play a certain game or not.

If you want to be impressed by what an Xbox can do then rent Rallisport Challenge 2. It's amazing. Project Gotham Racing 2 is also very good.

But if I were you I would wait for FIFA 2005, it's not far away now.

For me, I will buy FIFA2005 for PC, and PES4 for Xbox. I will buy fifa2005 just for additing the game, i am already in the team of ukrainian patch makers, and FIFA is the best game to make patches for. And PES4 is the greates game ever, with a super realistic gameplay. I am gonna buy it for Xbox, cause my PC will not run the game, and simply the grafics will look even better on Xbox, plus a great controler:D

This two games are must have!!!

Both PES and FIFA are working on their weaknesses. It will get harder and harder to choose between them in the future, I think. As patient as I am with EA, unless they make it easy to edit in Xbox, there may come a time when not adding Holland and the Dutch league will drive me to play the other game exclusively. I'm not going to upgrade my PC just so I can add those two items.

All valid points, although the focus was really on multiplayer gaming. I've been a PC player since games were still monochromatic. I've played PES on PS1. Even though I was disappointed with the graphics it was a lot closer to real footie than FIFA on the PC with their superior graphics.

It is a lot easier to choose one platform over another if you already know what you want to play. Since I'm primarily interested in football I'll be content with what can provide reasonably good graphics without breaking the bank.

1) Dont U have to pay extra for Xbox live?

2) Yeah, but the Xbox dosent have a keyboard and a mouse, Playing a game like halo with a gamepad sucks.

3) Of what I read, Euro 2004 in Xbox stuttered a lot, Where as in my PC

XP 2000+
256 DDR
Gefrce FX 5200(Which is supposed to be a budget crad)

It runs Smooth as Silk.

1) Yes. But it's a good service that keeps all your stats in one profile. It's worth it if you're into online play. It's normally quite easy to find a good game. I always struggled to play FIFA online on a PC, but I'm sure with Xbox live it will be easier than anything. At least it's decent when you have to pay a lot more just to upgrade a graphics card on the PC.

2) I agree with you that the Xbox having a gamepad isn't really a huge advantage. You can easily get a cheap and good one for the PC. At least when you buy a game on the Xbox you know that the the controls are configured properly.

But have you even played Halo on the Xbox? One of the reasons this game was so successful was because it's gameplay kicked arse for a console FPS. If you are used to playing FPS on the computer it might take some while to get used to, but soon the controls are as good as anything. It's nice to know all the controls are on the gamepad rather than all over the PC. And Halo did something very good by putting the grenade throw button as the left-trigger, something that worked very well. I really hate playing any games with keyboard, as a keyboard is IMO designed for typing not gaming, like a gamepad. You may be different, but you cannot say that playing Halo with an Xbox gamepad is bad.

3) Euro 2004 did stutter in some night matches on the Xbox. This was a huge mistake by EA. But 99% of games run as smooth as anything. The same can't be said about the PC. I've tried upgrading in the past but no matter what there was always game that didn't run smoothly. FIFA 2005 for sure will not stutter this year on the Xbox.

And I have a very similar computer to you, and FIFA 2004 stuttered even in low resolutions. Even after just upgrading to a brand new graphics card. This is when I decided I had enough with PC games and bought ant Xbox, and for me that was an excellent decision.

(Y).

I'm sure more people will buy the X-Box version than the PC version... PC games don't sell that well. There will be tons of people from around the world playing on LIVE. Profiles, custom leagues, cups, tournaments, the official MS WC, always on voice chat, etc.

You just can't beat that.

And You have 1 year free of Xbox live then after that you pay only £30 per year.

Halo is meant to be played on a pad.

Before Halo, you would say FPS can only be played with a keyboard and a mouse and it was absolutely true. Today, that statement = myth.

You can play FPS using a pad just as good as with k/m. It all depends on how the developers wanna set up the controls.
