the information in that thread is dated well before the world cup add on. The problems with fatigue started with the world cup add on and the new wc mods and ini.
The game works fine without the mods in world cup mode. Ill play without mods for the wrold cup and add them in for career mode.

You call it a problem like it's broken. Obviously EA designed WC mode to emulate the physical and mental fatigue that players experience in a short tourney, especially where they're competing against the best players the world. So not broken, but rather designed with thoughtful intent.

The fix here is simple: don't play the same starting 11 every game. Switch up the lineup, sub in at 60 minutes, let players rest up. I thought your issue was with fatigue going down too fast, which would be an issue. But this isn't a fatigue issue, it's a recovery issue, which is remedied in part via proper team management decisions.

I'll also note that you've stated you play on the fastest settings, and prefer frantic up and down the pitch action. Yes, and that style of FIFA destroys players' stamina levels.

Playing realistically -- stopping, passing back, taking your time, walking the ball, not sprinting -- doesn't destroy stamina. Play that way and players burn much less energy during a game, and will have that much more energy for the next. So I wonder how much of this is an actual EA "broken WC mode" issue? Sounds like a User gameplay-style issue if anything.

What I find really odd is Paul said he would help you, but apparently you want to believe WC mode is broken, and plan to leave it at that. Your choice. You're welcome BTW for the link.

The WC addon uses the Tournament / Career mode settings. Fitness / Fatigue recovery is not affected by this INI mod but by the Career Mod. Therefore you should go into that thread and discuss. The last post may be old but the frosty files and source code (in GitHub) is up to date.

This will be the last time I mention this in this thread. I've even supplied a small doc where to find the fitness recovery settings on GitHub.

Released new nightly. I was worried that the excitement of the game was lacking in my previous nightly, so hoping this one has fixed that. Good evening.

The game seems to be working fine now and problems with fatigue have been finally resloved. I am using the latest version 1 ini combined with the 2k4 game play and awesomegems latest gameplay mod. The game is very difficult now. Even with brazil i am struggling to get past the group stage.
I still delete all mods and mod folder every time before playing and then install again. Without this i have found the gameplay reverts back to being very boring.

You could alternatively remove the replay_0.bin file from the temp folder inside the My Documents. That resets the gameplay with the INI for me. Also add an extra comment in the INI file so it changes the hash of the file.

Just wish CPU would attack more lethally but I love the dribbling so far.
Are you still using default line sliders, team tactics and player stats? Because those need to be changed if you're looking to up CPU attack.

1. Sliders: I switched to regularcat's line sliders, they push the CPU up and help create real midfield battles. Line Height up (mine is 75) and Line Length down (mine is 5). Also, the higher the marking slider, the more aggressive the CPU plays.

2. Teams: Edit team tactics and raise defense pressure, the CPU will hound you further up the pitch. Raise defense aggression as well if you like the CPU to push/tackle like crazy, I personally don't like it but it creates more fouls. Raise teams' buildup speed. Change teams' default formations and assign attacking formations. Change players' instructions to join the attack. There are also team trait codes that can be assigned to boost team attack, as well as a handful of other team tactic codes that can help (raising long passing and lowering short passing for example).

3. Players: I raised all players' long shot and shot power ratings to 79-99. This creates hundreds more players with the distance shooting specialty, so you will see more CPU shots and less stupid CPU passing in front of goal. If you play career, you can adjust youth player generated values to match these db changes (I believe, but you're the expert there). Also, assign players high attack work rates and low defense work rates.

It honestly comes down to this: we can wish it was better, or we can change the way we approach the game and make the necessary slider and db edits.

EDIT: It occurred to me that locating the d-pad assignment codes, and setting CPU to high attack, would boost the CPU attack substantially. When I use the d-pad to push my players up, it doubles the number of my players in the CPU box, and it pushes my defenders way up to join the attack. This may well be the best way to boost CPU attack positioning and mentality. I'm going to take a look and see if I can spot where those d-pad assignment values might be located, hopefully it's something that can be edited.

Bangus is correct here. There are settings that you can use to "force" attacking mentality. The best settings to see obvious differences in AI are with the objective system.

That was my next question, if there are ini codes that correspond to the d-pad instructions -- switch CPU mentality from normal to all out attack, or to park the bus, etc?

Really good suggestion. Definitely have improved and got the game harder. However crappy team is also hard to beat which I am trying to find a fix for. Any idea how to DB edit to make lesser teams easier to beat and bigger teams harder to beat.

Two ideas. The first I get a "no" from most people. Lower CPU speed and accel sliders by one point when playing lesser teams. Myself, I actually do that when I play teams that are better than me, I lower their speed and accel. Balances things out and helps kill the cheat boosts (especially against the over the top cheat teams like Liverpool and Barcelona).

Second, use the line sliders to adjust CPU positioning. Height 5 Length 35 will create a ultra-defensive CPU setup. Height 75 Length 5 will create more of an offensive CPU setup. Obviously the more defensive the CPU setup, the fewer shots on your goal and the more ball possession you'll end up with. And the more it will "feel" like you are playing a lesser team. Not exactly a proper fix, but a possible quick fix of sorts. I actually look at the CPU formation beforehand, and then adjust those sliders accordingly. If the CPU team has 3 forwards or AMFs, I set the CPU sliders to attack settings. If the CPU has like 5 defenders, 2 defensive backs, and 1 forward, I'll set CPU line sliders to a defensive setup.
