Partial Career Mode Transfer Fix: How To Change Budgets

I don't remember where, but I read a few threads with people saying they were unable to change in game transfer budgets via squad files. I have uncovered a way to do this, and it does change the AI's transfer behavior quite a lot. Almost to a tolerable point...For me at least.

If you change a team's 'transferbudget' field in the squad database it WILL NOT SHOW IN GAME.

This appears to be well established by those who have tried. As far as I can tell, the 'transferbudget' field appears to be a calculated field like the overall player rating. The overall rating shows in the database, but if you just change the rating it will not be reflected in the game.

So, this leaves the question what fields are calculating the transfer budget?

As far as I can tell, the in-game transfer budget is calculated by the fields 'clubworth' and 'profitability'. The field 'profitability' determines how much of the 'clubworth' the team gets to use for its 'transferbudget'.

If 'profitability' is set to 1 then the team will get more of the 'clubworth' to use for its transfer budget. The scale goes from 1 (most transfer budget) to 10 (least transfer budget).

FIFA 18 has some ridiculous transfers that happen every window and it ruins the immersion in my career. I hate seeing super star players on random mid-low table EPL teams, or having the top players constantly shuffle between teams. Drives me crazy.

In order to fix this, I have cut the ‘clubworth’ of all mid table EPL teams to about half of the original value and then set their ‘profitability’ to 8, 9, or 10. This ensures they will always only get a small percentage of the clubs worth even if it increases. I have also cut the ‘clubworth’ of all the top teams in half, and also changed their profitability to 7,8,9, or 10.

The largest budget in my current career is $54 mil and this is only assigned to three or four teams. While this is not realistic per say, it really helps curb the aggressive AI transfer policy. I have noticed a LARGE decrease in ridiculous transfers, especially midseason. Of course, it’s not completely perfect. If a big team pays $40 mil for a player it well set off a chain reaction of several transfers, but it’s A LOT more tolerable to me. I have noticed big teams like Barca have even focused on buying high potential players for $15-20 mil instead of buying Cavani and Mertens in one transfer window when they still have Suarez.

Hope this helps…If this is already known, then…ooops :D
