Gameplay: 7.0

Still no revolution here, but the gameplay just keeps getting a little better every year. Like everyone else, i like the new ball physics.

Graphics. 5.5

The animations are okay, but the textures are really are really low-res. I hope this will be the last fifa game using this outdated engine.

Menus and interface: 4.5

It still suffers very much from being a console-port, but compared to the last fifa games this i bearable. The backgrounds are nice, and the presentation is very professional, but not at all useful.

Audio: 7.5 The crowd effects are very nice, and this is generally as good as it gets for a soccer game. The music is awful though.

Overall: 7.0

A Decent fifa game. I will be playing this well into 2007, if the manager mode is as improved as they promise. I have always liked both FIFA and PES, but if the PES series continue to deteriorate(the last installment was horrible) i fear there will be little competition in the future. The Fifa series seems to be making progress every year, and i am happy that fifa 07 has not let me down.

I played the PC demo and I do feel an improvement this year. The goals felt better and players made some good runs. I can't wait to play the 360 version cause the PC graphics were ugly. I still prefer PES/WE, but this year I will buy Fifa 07. It finally feels fun again after many long years. I hope the final 360 version delivers.

not impressed at all..i hope this is just a beta version because the game was jerky and the graphics were choppy and blocky..plus the sprites of the players are sooo small..i've been playing fifa since 1995 and it's getting worse and worse..maybe this is just the demo but i feel like i am playing world cup 06
i gave it a 5 .. i'll be interested to test drive a next gen version of it :jambo:

The reason why EA doesn't make the PC ver same as Xbox360 because they would never profit from selling a game that only a select few people can run.

Think. It don't hurt.

Theres a SH^&load of people playing F.E.A.R ..so i don't want to hear that..EA could do it if they wanted to ..OR HAD SOME COMPETITION WITH LICENSES

I was only encouraged to download and play the Fifa07 demo, after I read many of your reviews (esp. Wolf's) about the game being, "more like PES"...."will crush PES this year".... However, it turned out to be an improved version of every year's same crap. That's my impression: 4/10.

Dull predictable gameplay. Player turns look wrong. Although Fifa seems to have a bigger pitch, it's only a impression you get from a video. In reality, the ball -in Fifa- travels between both sides in a flash. In PES, it could take a lot more to build an attack, or just in real life, you could send your forwards running from a long pass all the sudden into space.

There is no sense of accomplishment when scoring the goals in Fifa (or wasting chances for that matter). And the goals that are actually scored are "ugly". I scored 3 goals, conceded one, in my 1st game, and all 4 goals came after meaningless rebounds from the keeper followed by an unrealistic sliding kick beside the keeper... with the commentary screaming, "A truly spectacular goal"....

Players run as if they're either playing on sand, or have sandbags on their legs; sand is involved in either ways. And you can't really talk about irresponsive players in PES, before you've played Fifa07.... players will run straight across corner and throw-in lines even if you tap the opposite direction before they reach the lines by ages.

No comment on the faces, how does that even compare to PES's faces?

I closed the game, started WE9: Korean Liveware Evolution, and played one of the best games ever. Scored 4 amazing goals, and all were crucial, amazing looking, and ech one generated an well-deserved, satisfying, "YESSS".

We could complain about WE/PES for ages, but that's just because the more perfect the game becomes, the more obvious its faults are. However, each fault in the game, has to be at least multiplied 10X in its Fifa equivalent. That's my honest feeling of the game.

That only good thing about the game is the way it looks before the match starts i.e. the menus. Whoptody doo... not enough for me.

VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION: THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION

How does the gameplay comapare to Winning Eleven 9 or 10?
Please answer cause I've been waiting for EA to come out with a decent title for years now.

I have to play it some more, but initial impressions have been good. The game flows well and scoring goals feels good. The PC visuals really hurt the experience. The experience will be even better with Xbox 360 graphics. It's not better than PES5 yet, but it is fun to play at least.

A Balanced View of the Demo

Overall , one hell of an entertaining game and lets not forget that this is what playing games is all about a balance of fun and realism and EA have got it nearly right. Before you mention anything else i'm a huge Konami fan however i thought PES5 was a tad too frustrating to really enjoy. My fav being PES3

Here are the plus points

Ball Physics are great, love the way the spin affects the movement of the net, really cool, some of the long high passes spin back a tad -cool touch and love the way it bounces off feet.

I do like the way you can pass the ball around and i have to say the movement of the AI players has improved 100% still not perfect though. love the long passes and generally enjoy the overall feel of the game, yes you tend to move from one end the other quickly but most premiership matches are similar. Football is getting faster after all!! you can slow the demo down see previous posts and i think that speed is spot on.

The atmosphere and sound is incredible, Clive Tyldesley is fantastic and adds to the experience and no doubt the full game will have even more different sounds.

Shooting and goal scoring actually for the first time in a FIFA game since RTWC feels rewarding. the keeper animations as he tips it over the bar remind me back to those RTWC days and the finesse shooting and volleying and subtle shots look great.

Negatives

Major WHY OH WHY EVERY YEAR EA DEVELOP A PC GAME AND MAKE ALL OF US ATI CARD USERS SUFFER!!!?????? i just want a smooth experience i have the hardware and just want ea to test the bloody game on a radeon for f sake its not difficult- Konami by and large just port it from PS2 and its smooth as a babys bum If this issue is going to be solved then great-fantastic but they never solved it with 06, all this render every frame changes to the config file well we shouldnt have to do this, its only FIFA that always does this.

The play is at default as tad too fast, ok on slow speed but too fast on default reminds me of a pinball game, if your going to invest in all of this ball physics and get the basics of football right why not the speed???

Overall though sort the ATI issue and a few subtle differences then hey you have a great first attempt by the new producer, EA keep Joe, cause at this rate FIFA 2008/09 will be one hell of a game. Make the mistake and start from scratch and we will go back to the wilderness years 1999-2006

OVNY

Well I think the overall gaming experience comes close to WE 9. Its hard to say if it will surpass it until the full game comes out. The game is fun for the first time ever, for me. I played the demo for about 1 hour, with the jerkiness and then went to play WE 9. Usually, in the past 5 years I think, wow Fifa gameplay is really bad, and I go and delete the game from my hardrive. This time I wanted to go back to fifa, pes felt a little boring to me and stiff. Strange. but too early to tell.

Played the demo for some 4, 5 hours in a row and though: "damn, best fifa ever, ball physics are much better, AI seems much better, its fun!"
Then i played PES5 and oh man... it is so much better. It was like playing it for the first time! The ball really feels like a ball, it has weight, everything is near perfect.

So conclusions: even though FIFA is alot better, PES is far superior.

Sounds great. Thanx to all of you posting this good info. I am happy to hear positive things since I first got into footie video games w/ fifa's World Soccer '94. But then, 2 years ago I picked up a title of WE after all the raves. I was skeptical for a long time about PES (WE) but it was no looking back after WE8. Anyhow, I just picked up a 360 and am really amped about the possibility of a great fifa for the 360. I can only hope. Is it still shipping this maonth? EA better step it up. The kits and sound get you only so far. I want realism in EA's gameplay. I hope they improved the players' response time as well. Did they? And do they still look like they are iceskating? Does the ball glide like a hockey puck still? Hope I'm not being a pain but it's really important before I shell out loot for it.

Hala Madrid! Madridista 100%

The problem with some of those PES/WE fans is that they have played the game too much. The are used the the PES/WE ball physics, which in there opinion reflects the real game of football...

Did exactly the same thing myself.
Having said that as a Pes fan, after playing the 2007 pc demo i'm very impressed by the improvements and i like being able to bring other players into the gameplay by myself. The game is 100 times better than wc2006 on my 360 which i thought was initially enjoyable and fun but then wore thin quickly.
I will defo be buying both for the 360.
By the way i gave the demo 7 and rated pes5 8 (could be 9 and 10 but theres a lot of room fot improvement)

Yes, but Youri, I think the reason why we've played it so many times is because it's so good. I was playing fifa 2006 the other day when some friends brought it over. I tried it and somewhat enjoyed it but we had to switch back to WE cause WE allows you to do what you want. It's not preprogrammed like fifa, is more responsive, better animations, better player models (imo), etc.

I am dying for Fifa to give importance to gameplay, finally. If you swear by fifa just cause of the songs, legit boots and stuff...I think it's a little shallow. It's great that fifa have superb audio, liscenses, etc. If they get the gameplay right I would be the happiest. By the way, I'm hoping WE never gets all the liscenses cause then it'll take away the editing system. I love it since I only play with totally created teams. Everything from the emblem to the flags, socks, goal celebrations are created and chosen by me. It makes the game more personable. I think it's one of the most underated features of WE. With liscenses, I fear it would be taken away.

Youri, facts about FIFA & PES (WE), yes facts. Unbiased points agreed upon by normal people

GAMEPLAY = WE (players are not on skates or rails and programmed to do certain things despite of what you press on the controller, responsive time much better, ball physics far superior and realistic, not a hockey puck in disguise as a ball, etc etc)
AUDIO = FIFA (Hands down)
GRAPHICS = FIFA (for stadiums, some pitches) WE (for player models)
DEPTH (customization, options, etc.) = WE
REPLAY VALUE = WE(many tournaments, customization galore, training challenge, not to mention you'll never see the same goal twice or same anything else for that matter twice)

Final words = WE makes games for hardcore football fans. Fans who not only watch or dream of playing, but fans who actually play in real life, used to play, demand realism, flexibility and total control over each player , formation. Fans who look more for the gameplay physics and realism of football.

Fifa makes games for people who like to pick up and play and not get too involved, want the computer to make alot of their decisions for them, like to see their favorite clubs, stadiums, hear their real chants, and have a kick@ss soundtrack(sometimes), enjoy the total audio experience.

It'd be nice to have the best from both games in one. A dream.

ronaldo9, just bought a 360 yesterday. Did I make a wise choice overall for all games? As for football. I saw the 360 WC game and it was very uninspiring and lame, same ol ps2, xbox game. I hope I'm not jumping the gun in thinking EA will make agreat game after that WC debacle game. And I'm afraid, they'll just glossy up the grafix, and ignore the gameplay. Anyone have thoughts, insight on this?

Just played the Fifa 07 demo and can say it is such an improvement I couldn't believe my eyes on what ball movement I was watching. It was all the little differnces that made it up for me like being able to move anywhere whilst the ball is in the air and the keepers throwing it how far you want and just little extra touches like that made me love the gameplay. :rockman:

Those graphics are terrible though. If the Xbox 360 has ball physics and AI and just generally great gameplay like that with great graphics then I will be amazed, infact I won't be able to stop playing.

I haven't mastered the tricks yet though but I am sure I will and it will become even greater!
