Damn, the referee didn't give us that penalty! US number 15 (don't remember her name) put the hand in the ball in the box!

I watched it too

Yeah, Brazil were definatly the better side.

They hit the post twice.

Also The first US goal was a handball by Chastain who passed it to the person who scored

It is the second time that Brazil outplay the U.S. but lose to 'em in this tournament

Sucks for Brazil to get robbed (:/)

Damn i was about to make a thread about it, but then i came onto this. Well, we should've been handed a penalty, but well, that's football. I'm proud of our girls, those ones truly deserve praise, because they got a silver medal and at least half of them dont play on any teams, as we dont have a professional league for women in Brazil.

Btw, in USA's first goal, the girl who made the assist touched the ball with her hand aswell.

Like Grunger said, that's soccer. But yeah, Brazil definately deserved to win. Played better, more inspired, players were far more technical and faster.

Yea, i had soccer practice today, and our coach decided instead of going on the field and practicing, that we watched the game, I have to agree, being American, that Brazil dominated. Several times a single player would go by like 4 US defenders with ease. Brazil though I must say was pretty dirty, I'm not saying that US was clean at all, we made some marsh tackles also, but it seemed like every time a US player was getting kicked in the ankles.

I'd also like to Congradulate Abby Wambach on her goal. She was born and raised in Rochester, NY and even went to the same school district as me for two years.

aye, i think it has to do with the 1st stage match, when usa played really dirty on the 2nd half.

bad for both ways anyway...

Great game of Brazil yesterday, USA just scored 2 goals in 2 opportunities... Defeat in Volley-ball, in Handball and in Football, Brazilian women were unlucky yesterday :(

Depends. The Handball and Football girls were really unlucky and deserved something better. Cant say the same about the Volleyball ones, those just flopped/choked (as they always do btw, it's the 3rd time in a row they fail in a semifinal match in the Olympics, as both in Atlanta and Sydney we lost in the semis), wasting 7 match points or so in a match. Especially Mari, cant believe Leila was dropped from the team for Mari, because the latter wasted every chance she could on crucial times.

About someone saying Brazil played dirty, i dont think so. If we did it wasnt on purpose, here we call it "Raça", you call it giving 100% and a lil' bit more. The girls were giving everything, so maybe sometimes they gave a little more than they should and ended up hurting the USA players.

This American team was awful. And there is a huge reason for that...

Two players quit the team because the US philosphy for soccer is to not be creative anymore. Milbrett and McMillian have both said so, and walked.

If you watched this team play, they were slow, boring, had no vision on the field, and generally sucked. Brazil, in the two games I saw of them, looked great.

US Womens soccer is in for trouble in the future... Especially with one of the dirtiest players/cheater/diver on the squad who's name is Abby Wambach. She's a disgrace.

But don't complain about the handball... that's just how the game goes at times. Next time don't hit the post twice and bury that ****.

What are you talking about, just becuase she's several inches taller than anyone out there, doesn;t mean she's dirty. I don't know how you can score all those goals by being a dirty player.

She's a worse diver than a portugese winger. I'm basing that on WUSA games as well. Diving = Cheating in my book.

Yeah, we were missing Kátia Cilene (our best striker, she was our top scorer at the last WC aswell). If we had her, we could've scored 3-4 goals. But well, it's football, we're on the up, USA looks to be heading on to a downturn, especially now that 5 players are quitting NT football (due to retirement or maybe something else, dunno).

I agree with you. Brazil really impressed me when I saw them play. Tons of creativity, lots of hard work. You are right about the US being on a downturn though. The US soccer program is on the downturn... they are only recruiting big, slow, non creative players...

Same goes for the mens team.

Well, but the mens team has a few talents coming up i guess.

Eh... nobody who can actually score goals though. The US has this "the bigger the forward, the more we like them" mentality. McBride, Ching, Casey, etc. etc.

We need a Henrik Larsson type of forward to compliment our big guys up front. Ah well, that's a different thread.

Hey, you guys will get your crack at us again, don't worry. Half the U.S. team is gonna retire now, and without the WUSA, we're not going to have half a chance in hell of beating Germany, China, Norway, Sweden & Brasil! Let us win the gold while we still can, you'll get your chance. :(

But the men's team, on the other hand :rockman:

PEACE
