Demichelis wants to die

Bayern Munich midfielder Martin Demichelis claims he has lost the will to live after missing out on a place in Argentina's World Cup squad. "It's not only that I don't have any desire to play anymore - I don't have any desire to live," Demichelis told an Argentine television network.

Demichelis, 25, was unexpectedly dropped by Argentina coach Jose Pekerman when he named his 23-man squad on Monday.

Demichelis moved to Bayern in 2003 from River Plate and has become a key player for the dominant force in German football, protecting the defence and helping the team win two Bundesligachampionships and two German cups in the last two years.

Javier Mascherano has instead been picked for Argentina, who also sensationally dropped former captain Javier Zanetti in favour of Lionel Scaloni of West Ham.

Argentina are grouped with the Netherlands, Ivory Coast and Serbia & Montenegro in the World Cup finals in Germany which begin on June 9.

Is there any explanation as to why Zanetti was left out? Makes no sense. There's no way Peckerman can honestly say that Burdisso (not even a regular at Inter) and Scaloni are anywhere near the class Zanetti is. It leaves a hole in Argentina's lineup.

Cruz is a class player though, I wouldnt even be surprised if he takes Crespo's place in the lineup.

I still thinks its a bad call from Pekerman...but he is young and im sure he will make it to 2010...

Only Peckerman knows that...Zanetti, out of the world cup its sooo shocking...he never missed a game since 1994...

He doesn't uses side backs or side midfielders...all through the middle like the f*cking 50's

I think the only reason that was explained was that Zanetti is a pure #4 and he plays solely on the wing while there are other players who are more versatile. It still does not make too much sense, I think Pekerboy just shot himself in the foot.

For a long while, specially with Bielsa and Passarella, Zanetti played as a right midfielder, just like Scaloni is supposed to, so i don't think that's the reason, i wonder how influential could have been the media about this one, i mean after seeing Rodrigo Palacio.:boohoo:

But now more likely Coloccini will be there instead of Zanetti, and Scaloni is listed as a midfielder so more likely Cufre would be his replacement, i'm still wondering why not Ponzio. Anyway no explantation was given about the players missing on the list like Lux, Zanetti or Demichellis.
