I'm not answering many messages here but i have just found out that each season gets easier no matter which difficulty you are on. Teams like Swansea etc are promoted and Arsenal have been relegated on my game. Also, Aston Villa and Sunderland are in the Champions league, it is my third season.

I have been playing in semi pro and I was winning almost all the games for 5-0 and so. I pushed the difficulty up tp professional and now even winning for one goal seems almost impossible! I feel very disconfortable with my gamepad at pro (logitech cordless) because I can not program the "player runs" to the button that I like (I like it in R2 but the game doesn't see the damn button) and the stupid Wingman profiler doesn't work for these either. If you ask me: Logitech must dig this crap profiler software and learn from the Thrustmaster thrustmapper, that software can program everything and any game recognises the commands, that program is amazing m8s, not like the Logitech one! The bad is that stupid EA has receive a BIG CHEQUE from Logitech to be the only controllers fully compatible. I am going to have to try the right stick fix for making my Dual Power work with the game and after that happens I am going to dig must probably my new Logitech Cordless. I don't kniw why I didn't listened the people that was recommending the Logitech one that looks like the PS2 conteoller, that one is the really perfect controller for this game. The cordless though is an amazing controller, I have not seen a wireless controller in the market that comes close to this one. I just wish that Thrustmaster could produce hardware in the quality as the Logitech one, my Thrustmaster Dual Power buttons feel too delicate and soft compared to the solid Wingman Cordless from Logitech. Nothing is perfect in this world!

As this is the tips and tricks thread I would like to say thanks to everybody that have posted useful tricks. Specially tricks like the one of the corners, it is very effective.

I need some advise in 3 things because in PRO mode the CPU OWNS me :( :

1. How exactly are you using the "call 2nd defender" function? Do you cover the player that has the ball manually and call for a defender for covering your back (in case that the player that has the ball pass you) or do you call the 2nd defender and he goes and marks the player, while you cover his back?

2. Is it possible to move a player that is going to receive a ball for he move in the direction that a pass is comming? I am very often anticipated by the other team's players specially when I make a long pass because my stupid receptor stays static waiting that the ball comes to his foot isntead of going to look for the ball. How can I move my receptor for he goes to enconter the ball and like this not be anticipated by the enemy players?
I think the reason for this is the same one that stops you from winning a hard tackle sometimes (with the volley button) because your player that has tackled just stays static and you can not move it to win the ball, so the other team just takes it again GRRR!

3. What is the best way to use OTB? I try to center the ball before the 16.50 line but the pass is almost always intercepted by the other team, or my player gets it but it gets very pressed and I don't see any free player arround for passing, so I lost the ball :(

You can take out the GK with W when there is an attacker comming. There is not so much else you can do I think.

I don't get it m8, what do you mean with pressing S? If you pass the ball to the GK you have plenty control over it, you can move wherever you like, even take it out of the area and walk all the field.
The W thing is tricky. There are sometimes when I also think that the Shifty keeper doesn't move. You must leave W pressed holding it, but I don't think you can control where to move the GK, it just comes out alone to intercept the atacker.

Does anyone actually read the instruction book? Half of these so called 'tips' are all mentioned in there.

Got anything that I can't read up in the book?

And what is the "special move button"? Can you be more specific?

Striker holding...

Not quite sure what to call this move...but here goes...

You enter the ball to a striker, who receives it with his back to the goal. He's holding off the defender behind him who's basically holding on to him from behind. I have tried shooting from this position...but it is very rarely on goal. Sometimes, I can push the shift key and move away from the defender, who will then lunge and foul me. But trying to pass or otherwise break away from the defender doesn't seem to work. What other suggestions do you have for me?

Thanks in advance!

Cheers,
mutiger

What I do is pass the ball, the player that is been hold frees himself for a second and he pass the ball. But I think there is people that can use the justle button and liberate from the player making a trick or something, but I have not done that yet (I can not yet :) ).

1. I cover the defender while he goes for the ball and try to intercept the opposition passes...

2. What works for me is I enable OTB, send the main striker on a diagonal run (middle to top left) by tapping the OTB stick (once!) in the direction I want him to run. I then hold the "player run" button and hit the lob pass...it sends the ball over his head and he ends up running for it.....give it a go!

Thanks dude!

This was really nice advise.
I have to say that I was very wrong about the Wingman Profiler, the problem is that the thing doesn't detect correctly the program that launch FIFA 2004, and because of this it doesn't activate the appropriate profile. The solution is make the profile active right before you are going to play FIFA, there is a function in the profiler for doing this, I don't remember the name now, but you find it easily in the options. Like this it works like a charm.

Is this a bug in the game or how are all you managing this situation:

I make a long (very long) pass to a winger for example, especially notable when the other team is playing very offensive (when they are losing for example). The winger is totally unmarked and he runs forward for catching the ball (I am using the sprint button) but something VERY ANNOYING happens: ALWAYS that the winger reaches the ball he makes a VERY STUPID pass back instead of running with the ball for making a nice escape scoring. Why this is happening? I am not pressing any other button than SPRINT before reaching the ball, and the guy always do that like an automatic ashole! :D
If some1 can give me a good explanation, or has noticed this phenomenon I am ready to read it. Thanks!

Sometimes, if its close to the touchline, the player will kick the ball hopelessy back into play, so maybe that might be the reason.
