Official: This are the Questions to EA

Gareth

Starting XI
As said in the other thread about this we have compiled a list of questions to ask EA based on what you guys have prescribed. Here are the 10 questions being submitted to EA, which should be available on the EA World Cup 2002 Website sometime in March:

1. Apart from the 32 teams competing in the World Cup Finals what other nations, classic team’s etc. will be added, and will all teams carry full licenses?
2. What improvements have been made to the gameplay of FIFA 2002, such as AI, ball physics, player interaction and the style of play?
3. Will the team management problems be addressed from FIFA 2002 and will there be any new additions?
4. Will a practise mode and/or indoor mode be included?
5. Has the kick taking (i.e. Freekicks) and throw-in mode changed at all from previous versions?
6. Will national anthems be included for all teams available in the game?
7. Has the player rating system and create-a-player/team mode been updated from FIFA 2002?
8. Will any other tournaments/competitions be included apart from the FIFA World Cup?
9. Can saved files from FIFA 2002, such as the World Cup Qualification stats be carried over to World Cup 2002?
10. Have more weather effects and options been included?

Sorry if I could not use your question, I did the best I could. Hope to hear from EA soon.

for this question:
"9. Can saved files from FIFA 2002, such as the World Cup Qualification stats be carried over to World Cup 2002?"

I think the answer is YES, cause on the data files there are some cheat codes (that DO NOT work on Fifa 2002) and some other stuff, but there is this phrase:

Hint: keep your save file for use in a future Wold Cup product.

so maybe they will work..
I dunno, you never know :P

I think its a bit dissapointing that ppl just spammed the board with questions before they thought whether they are one of the ten most important..
It seems now everyone has realised that we all want International Selection(there is a huge thread on it), but we didnt ask about it.
Cheers

How many international teams do you want. What i wanna see are more leagues, perhaps from Argentina, Portugal, Japanese, or even one from Africa.

u obviousley dont understand the concept of the INternational Selection.
It means selecting your best 22 players for the squad, not a vast selection of international teams.
The game is called World Cup 2002, it should contain the World Cup(not club teams), They have already released FIFA 2002 if you want clubs!
Everyother year they only release one game, so be happy with that!
World Cup 2002 should be good though, and if they included Club teams etc, they couldnt make them to the Standard that theyd like to in World Cup.
The less teams the better the quality of research, etc goes into those teams

what i dont get is that you all want international selection, but the final roster for the world cup has to be in long before the cup begins. you will get to choose right away, but then you cant switch it up. that should be in the qualifying version of FIFA, not in the world cup version. they already missed their chance to put international selection into their game. for the world cup version, you can just edit the players to make up the team you want. you cant change it once you start im sure.

Once u start a WC tournament u shouldnt be able to change International Selection within that tournament.
but before hand u should.
EA wont get the rosters dead right, especially considering most player would probably want slight variances, so this is a way to get rid of the problem.
Its not selection for each game, but for your sqaud for the World Cup. As u said "but the final roster for the world cup has to be in long before the cup begins" yes and we should each get to decide who is on this roster for us!

still, there are more changes made to the roster during qualifying. i agree, i do want international selection, but more for fifa 2002 and 2003 than for WC 2002, cause ill put whomever i want on my team, even if i have to edit them...in road to world cup stages, you can change them and still have them later

wait u still dont seem to understand though, im not saying you should change the roster during a World Cup, but before a world cup u should get to choose your own World Cup squad.
It has nothing to do with changes to the squad, it has to do with the fact that a gamer should be able to choose his own WC squad, not just the one EA choose for him.
Therefore International Selection is very important.
I bet the Selectors take more time picking the QC squad then any other team in real life, so it is obviousley the most important time for International Selection

no, i'm sorry, you don't understand. listen...if you have to play with the same team for the whole time, edit your players to your liking. if you have the chance to pick you team SUCH AS THE WORLD CUP QUALIFYING, then it is important to have international selection, because then you can drop a player and pick up then next player without editing him. then the next game you can go and pick other players without editing previous ones. don't tell me i don't understand ****, cause i have been playing fifa since 97 and i really have a good feel for all the **** that goes on.

I can partially answer question #5 :D

the thrown in mode has been improved, and now you adjust the power of the throw before throwing the ball to the player. also you can't just select the player who you want to throw the ball to anymore, you have to throw it in a direction, and cross your fingers the right guy picks it up.

mate playing FIFA since 97 isnt a huge feat, ive been playing since the start(FIFA International Soccer it was called, and it was in the year 1994 or late 93)
Anyway, i do understand fully what u r saying, but editing players really sucks, u should be able to choose the squad u want to go into the World Cup, before u play the tournament.
In Qualification, you should just be able to have a squad of about 30, and then you can select every team before every match, but as i said, the international selectors/coaches, would sit down and think more before choosig the WC squad then any other squad, so we should be able to do the same when selecting our 22.Without having to edit players and lose commentary!
