nVidia TNT2 HELP!!!!

I have recently bought an nVidia tnt2 m64 32 megabite card and installed it in to my compaq presario 5451 but i have two problems that are bothering me. First when i set my resolution to 1024x768 pixels on my desk top the color of my screen ether gets messed up or the desktop shrinks to a size of half my screen. I have checked that maybe my monitor cant handle this resolution but in the ibm support center i was told that it was possible to use that resolution with my monitor. My second problem is that some games (ex. Fifa 2001 by EA sports and Age of Empires 2 by Microsoft) do not work properly (Freeze in the introduction or during game play). I have tried to get more modern drivers and even tried older ones that were recommended and aproved by nVidia but still these problems persist. I had a certain problem like that (yes, with a TNT2), but it was during gameplay. Unlike your case, I downloaded the latest driver for the card and it fixed the problem.
