**** Nigel de Jong

Right now, four of Ajax's players have decided to leave Ajax at the end of the season when their contract expires: Maxwell, Steven Pienaar, Hatem Trabelsi and Nigel de Jong. First off, I think the fact that they're leaving Amsterdam with no compensation to Ajax shows how inept the Ajax management is. You don't wait until the season a player's contract expires to approach him about extending his contract. You do it in time, force the player to agree to commit or not and plan ahead for a possible sale and search for a replacement.

As for Maxwell, Pienaar and Trabelsi, I have no hard feelings. Really, they've been great players and I'll always think positively when I recount their contributions to the team. Ajax was a stepping stone to a bigger, better club and we've known that from the start.

However, the same does not go for Nigel De Jong. Not only is he Dutch, but he's a product of the Ajax academy. Much money has been invested in his football education and he always kisses the badge on his jersey when he scores. De Jong has been very popula, everybody loves him and he claims to be a real "Ajacied." He waited until today, however, to tell Ajax that he will be ******* off. ut He decides to do the same thing that Seedorf did: do nice things for Ajax for a season or two and than sign for the very first team that offers you a deal (Sampdoria :sb9: ). He's only 21 and has played only three meagers seasons for Ajax. You think it would really hurt to stay at Ajax so we can at least collect a nice transfer fee?

Really great player and all but one ingrateful little son of a bitch. Hopes he rots in hell.

Way to call out your own player: sarcasm not intended there. Perhaps its a matter of him seeing the very inept management you alluded to. Then again, the fact of the matter is he could always extend now and then be shopped in the summer anyway.

The way that great generation of talent they had in the mid 90's was mishandled makes me wonder what might have been if they had hung onto them and sold them at the height of their maturity and value.

He'll play at Old Trafford next season, Nick.

Bull****, you'd take Maxwell over whoever the **** is playing left-back for you at the moment for sure.

Affelay > Pienaar, agreed. As for Trabelsi vs. Ooijer, depends what kind of back you're looking for. Trabelsi is an amazing upcoming back while Ooijer provides you with more security in the back.

Ah, Nick starts making sense. At least Sneijder would have something to add to Man U's squad strength, De Jong would just be surplus.

surplus? He's worth 10 Gary Neville's and 20 O'shea's...

De Jong will probably die somewhere in Europe. Gay, I thought he had an Ajax heart. He was born and raised in Mokum. As I said in the Ajax thread, loyalty means so little in today's football. He should take an example of Maldini or something.

As much as I feel for you guys, I always take the players side (although granted it is tougher to do when the guy is 20 instead of 30). He is worth more than Ajax will pay him and for that reason alone, he is justified in moving. He will probably get a bigger sign on fee since there's no transfer fee, and maybe a bigger contract as well. First and foremost soccer is their job. They don't want to be waiting tables when they're 40 anymore than you or I do, except we will be entering our prime at 40 while players will be long gone.

Come to Bayern, we'd love to have you as a rotation player :)

aww fack. I bet that Pienaar woman influenced his decision. "Join Liverpool with me so we can dance together!" I can already imagine it.

Well if Nigel goes, I hope he goes to ManUtd.

You are right, he has got nothing on Neville and O'Shea, not after they led the team to the second round of....oh wait.

Bad jokes put to the side, o'shea sucks the penis, IMHO anyway.

I have always thought De Jong was a bit over-hyped, kind of like De Ridder, he was no where near as good as Trabelsi and Maxwell anyway, and to say the least, I was never a big fan.

I think this is the curse of Ajax, we bring up great players and then have them all leave us for cheap, all at once. If we cant keep them after winning the CL three times(back in the day), then we sure as hell wont be able to keep them now. But hey, **** you De Jong/board/the prick who sold Zlatan for cheap.

To round out my rant with some good news, Vaart is doing great in Germany, I was a bit scared that he had lost his touch for good when he was in Amsterdam, Sneijder is staying.

Is it just me or does everybody think Nigel is a defender which in itself is one of the reason he's leaving. He wants to play every week at midfield. He played at defense that's truth but he said he kind of hated that he wants to play right-mid.

I'd think Pienaar would do well at Arsenal.

Sneijder would be good just because he can shoot, plus he's my favourite player in PES5, therefore must be good.

No talking about Sneijder guys, he has signed a contract until 2009. If you want him get some dosh over to Amsterdam. (H)
