News about FIFA11

One thing that annoys me about FIFA 10 and most soccer games is the lack of continuity in the match.

I hate it when a ball rolls out of bounds for a throw-in, how the screen flashes to the guy throwing it in. (yea sometimes there's a cutscene)

It's annoying because when the ball is rolling out of bounds, the players are positioned as they were at the end of the play. but when the screen flashes to the guy throwing the ball in, everyone is in totally different areas on the field then they were previously. i know it's supposed to simulate skipping ahead, but why does it need to skip ahead? Just show the player running to the ball and getting into throwing in position. to me, this kinda breaks up the match, because you want to just run to the ball and pick it up and throw it in quick, but even when you select quick throw-in, you don't get the satisfaction of throwing the ball in to an area that was left vacant by the opponent when the ball went out of bounds.

i hope you can follow that. the lack of continuity is annoying. when a ball goes out of bounds for a throw-in, you should pick up the ball and throw it back in. this is friggin next-gen isn't it. next-gen sounds to me like everythings more realistic then it was. everything's taken to the next level.

well why can't we have a continuous clock, no skipping ahead segments when the ball goes out for a throw in. i don't want the screen to re-flash every time. that's an arcade element to a fifa game, that is in many ways the most sim game there is. lets cut out the arcade shenanigans for FIFA 11 PC for real if i'm gunna spend my hard earned money on this game.

See what i mean?

Look where they are after the ball went out of bounds. Where is the guy running to the sidelines to throw it in? They are just walking around like zombies. No one is running to the ball.

Then look the screen "flashes" and all of a sudden the guy has magically moved to a throwing-the-ball-in position. watching the clock, no time elapses. In soccer, isn't the clock always supposed to run? So FIFA 11 is against the rules of soccer? Okay.

Also look how many players have rearranged. before the screen flashes there are 5 yellow shirts and 4 black shirts, right?

After the screen flashes, look : there are 5 players in yellow shirts on the field, 1 yellow shirt throwing it in, for a total of 6 yellow shirts. But now after the screen flashes, there are *gasp* 7 or 8 black shirts on the field. so in the time that the screen flashed, magically more black shirts appear??

This is an absolute embarrassment to soccer fans. In soccer, it's a continuous game. you don't need to advance friggin time. the game clock isn't supposed to stop at every out of bounds or corner or goal or free kick. the clock does not stop. that is why we have stoppage time EA. Learn how to play soccer EA.

The way FIFA 11 is looking, sure it will be better but it's still the same ol' PC engine just spiced up. until they make it continuous it's going to need much modding work by me and others to get it to be even close to sim.

this default gameplay engine in the link above is aweful. scoring chances within seconds of kicking off? this isn't supposed to be red card 2003 on ps2 or something.

I will say the dribbling looks much improved. the pace is way too fast, but the dribbling, especially side to side looks much better. that video looks like FIFA 11 PC. please confirm though.

So the gameplay looks improved. the dribble transitions are nice and fluid. I like the extended commentary at halftime. the game does look good. the problem is they are trying to make it sim, like making the goalkeepers better. (something that we have already done in the modding community for FIFA 10PC) so they are trying to make it harder to score to some extent, but yet at the same time they are making everything way too fast. that's why that match was 0-0 at "halftime" because they played only a few minutes.

people expect to be wowed by goals every second. they should cater the game to sim fans of the sport. give an option to play at any length you want, but give the ability to actually play a long drawn out match like you see on TV. FIFA 11 PC should mimic how matches look like on TV. there shouldn't be differences in the way the clock works, how time fast forwards, and what not. EA need to make up there mind and say "look we've made a great engine, now lets make a game" that has longevity. but i guess screwing things up makes more money sometimes.

Video looks good.
Commentary cut-offs are quite annoying though!
He will start saying something, and then cut off half way through and say something else!!!

Gameplay looks decent; but ridiculously fast!

This is console video and if people find this "fast", I don't want to know what they will say about FIFA 11 PC speed :S

no worries pal... game speed is something adjustable. the negative comments are from people who haven't ever played the FIFA at consoles and they don't know the NG experience ;)

I've played console ... know the experience.
Just don't think this fast is very realistic!

Does it matter if it's a console or PC gameplay video?

Let's face it folks, for those of you who are active on this forum, you're gonna get the PC game anyway (if not both games) and will have to make do with whatever it is EA has in store for you. So there's really no point in getting all impatient or bashing in advance - doesn't change anything in the game does it? For all we know we're not even sure if editing is possible this year anyway.

Just wait for the damn thing. It's coming out in just a little more than 2 weeks' time.

Not directing this specifically to anybody, so no hard feelings alright? If you do get offended, I don't really give a fvck.

Duong, man, if I don't see anything that concerns this game, from a single screenshot to a whole gameplay video, in order to have a complete view of the upcoming demo, what is this that will convince me to get the demo than go to PES that has shown so many great videos? imagine, though, how COMPLETE must be this view I need to have, so that I will be sure that the prize I pay to buy it is worth investing...

and to avoid any reactions, it's just a different point of view ;)

Similair thing happens during free kicks or corner when a 2nd player is called in.

Yeah, but it's less annoying on free kicks and corner kicks. For one, corner kicks and free kicks are true set pieces, and i don't mind that the game skips ahead in these segments. (i'd rather it not but it's still realistic because on free kicks sometimes they take a while to setup) and with Free Kick manager you can change the setup of these free kicks to have variety and make free kicks and corner kicks fun. throw-ins are the main problem to me. in real soccer, throw-ins happen fast, and unlike free kicks or corners, can be thrown into play, instead of kicked, so it's truly a continuous play in the game. i agree that when the second player is called in on a free or corner kick, the screen does flash as well. i'd rather it not, but that doesn't annoy me nearly as much as throw-ins do. I doubt they'll fix it for FIFA 11, but i hope at some point, perhaps in FIFA 12, they make throw-ins continuous, add some new animations of players picking up the ball, and let user controlled players throw the ball in. it'd be nice if there were ball boys tossing players the ball to throw it back in like you see in real soccer too.

agree with you. beside i don't want to waste US$ 50 for a lousy game with the minimal specs my pc can't reach. if the game really release on 1 Oct. i'll wait till 1 month to see the reaction on this forum. if it disappointed, i think i'll buy the console pack. :innocent_smile_1:

Theres a test on fifa4fans, it says the graphics on pc are equal to the console version. Actually its better because of the higher resolution.
